okay...so, I am ordering the oem pistons from heavy throttle tomorrow. And I am thinking since I already took out the whole engine, I might as well change the valve springs and cams. I am looking at the "Brian Crower SR20DET Valve Spring & Retainer Set" and "Brian Crower Step 2 Street / Strip Spec SR20DET Cam Set, 264 / 264, 12.06 lift" from heavy throttle

If I change that cam set, do I need a cam gear?

Do you think that is a good mod? Right now my car got downpipe, catback exhaust, with stock turbo. Or what do you guys think I should go the next? I am not a drag racing guy, so I am not asking for a lot of horse power, I just want a little more efficient mods on my car so I will still be able to control my car at autocross

from what you are describing, your setup seems pretty mild. So, there is absolutely no need for cam gears. Stock will be fine. Spend your extra money elsewhere.

Cam gears will only benefit when you need to fine tune and get extra horsepower out of a big setup.

well youll definately get more response, outta the t25, but bout 14psi is its max, sooo no matter how many engine mods you do thats its limit, also the stock 370cc inj, and MAF unit are at there limit, if your running 12psi++ soo that all would need to be change too, also if u have that all apart u might as well put in a new after market hg,and head studs thatll withstand more power... soo look into some of that stuff, hope this helps

no, it will not add boost. It will help you spool a little faster and have a higher hp figure (15ish with stock manifold).

Things you need to do now, metal headgasket and ARP head studs. Don't gamble a new motor on old headstuds they are designed to stretch when torqued ONCE and once only.

Things you should do for added power. MAF Upgrade, Bigger injectors, aftermarket exhaust manifold, and either a ROM tune or a piggyback fuel computer.

Some people have already covered most of what would be a proper order for things. If your engine is apart then definitely consider going with the Apexi HG, arp studs are a must.

Your budget seems limited, so do mods that will cost you a lot of time and money to re-do later.

Ok, nicku...i was in the same position just a week ago....i wanted cams and bigger injectors...well what i decided to buy was the T28 turbo....because its direct bolt on, and when you wanna move up to a z32 maf and bigger injectos you'll wish you had money for a bigger turbo...that just my 2 cents....but yeah i say go bigger turbo rather than cams and cam gears...oh yeah i heard the 264/264 cams go best with the T28...

I wouldn't get 264's with a stock turbo, get 256's or nothing and spend the money elsewhere. I run HKS 256's with a gt28rs and it helps it spool much quicker. But they didn't do much when I had the standard t25.

cool guys, that is a lot of useful information. Bad news is i already bought the 264 cams and valve springs. and I will over night ship the apr head stud tomorrow. as for gasket, I got it already. thanks a lot guys. I guess I will stick with stock t25 for a while cz I just got this car. I dont want to make too big difference before I get used to it on the track. The next thing I will buy an air fuel control. But I have no idea how to hook it up with the ecu or whatever. Anybody can give me a little help?
