I thought I would relay my experience using cheep ebay springs. You can get height adjustable Maxspeed springs for around $100. These springs came on my 94 honda accord and were installed on what looked stock shocks. The car was so low that I would periodicaly pull of my front bumper if I was backing up. I mean my wheels were up inside the wheel wells. The shocks were also so shot that if I hit a certain bump on the highway at 80mph I would hit my head on the roof.
Well I decided it was time for a new suspension and was thinking of getting eibach springs but I figured why spend the money on new springs when I wanted a different car anyway. So I decided to get KYB AGXs off ebay for around $360 and keep the springs. When I was changing them on the front I noticed the adjustment was set as high as it would go. That was crazy because the car was so low. I figured out what was wrong. Whoever installed the springs knocked off the lower spring seat the put the springs all the way down resting on the brake line bracket:ylsuper . It was nice. It took me a long time to beat the springs off. Well I did have some trouble like breaking my cv joint and when I tried to change it it took a 3 foot pipe wrench and a 6 foot pole with two days to get the axle nut off, but thats a different story.
Because I had so much trouble with the front suspension and had to go back to college I didnt do the rear. With the front set on full stiff and the rear blown, boy that car was a strange handeling car. When I would drive it and hit a bump I could hear my toolbox and my sup catch air in the trunk and smash back down. When I would corner hard the front would dive into the corner nicely and the rear would follow and just kind of bounce back and fourth.
Well I finally got the rear shocks on and I was so happy. I raised the car probably about 2 inches from where it was but is still about 2 inches lower. I love on and off ramps with that car and it is almost the cheepest suspension you could get. Oh, I have to add that I drive normally on full hard in the front (4) and about middle in the rear (~5-6). Now I need to do my 240 because it feels like a boat. I was going to go with coilovers but I figured I am pretty happy with the suspension n my honda which would cost about $450 why spend $1300-1500? I think I am either going with tein or ST springs and agx shocks. I think it will be an improvement over my honda but I just wanted to let people know the cheep "coilover" springs are not that bad.
