My MAFS is sending 11v

I thought when a MAFS dies, it gives you 0v... is this normal?

It's getting the proper 12v power, ground is working. Turning the adjuster screw does nothing.

Is my MAFS dead or is there a power leak?

Ouch, not only does the MAFS sound like it's fried, there is a very good chance that if it sent 12V into the ECU, it toasted the ECU as well.

Well the car seems to run fine (for a car that has no maf anyways), diagnostic mode works, and it calls a MAF error.

I sure hope it didn't pop the ECU, since this is the secon one... the first one died from an unrelated issue.

So I guess 11v is not exactly the signal a broken MAF sends?

I won't say that for sure, but the output range is only supposed to be 0-5V. It sounds to me like something is fubared internally on the MAFS and it isn't regulating the voltage like it should.

Do you have any piggyback installed (SAFC, ect)? If so, they may be damaged. If the motor is completely stock, then hit up the junkyard and find yourself a SOHC KA MAFS, and call it a day.

Yep, that's the plan. I have a SOHC MAFS already, just waiting on the plug.

I just wanted to make sure that it was the MAFS only and not some other problem which will repeat itself with the new MAFS as well.

Also, my motor doesn't have an O2 sensor (it's a Hong Kong model), so I hope losing the adjuster screw on the MAF doesn't mess with things too much.

I've ripped apart the whole harness now and put it back in... still getting the same problem.

I know for certain that both of my MAFS are working properly and the wires go the correct places.

When the MAFS is connected to the ECU ground wire, it sends 11v. When it's connected to a chassis ground... it gives the proper 1v at ign.

Does this mean my ECU is bad or could it still be wiring?
