I have a 2007 M45. Periodical the my car won't start. When I push down the brake, the brake won't depress and its saids it needs the key. But I have the keys in my pocket. I have to unhook the battery for 1/2 hr or so then after reconnecting the battery the car starts up. Does anyone have a clue what happening?

I have the issue sometimes with my 06 35x but I don't have to disconnect the battery. For me it just requires putting the key in its little slot and doing it that way. I assume the M45 has the same thing; that little slot you can stick the key into that's to the left and sort of under the steering wheel.

Sometimes it starts fine without doing that; with the key just being in my pocket or cup holder. But recently I've had to do that to get it to start. Hopefully it works for you too.

don't take this the wrong way but; you have an almost brand new car: take it to the dealer and say "FIX THIS #$#% RIGHT NOW!!!" . that's what i did, and not in those words of course.

Could it be a low/dying battery in the key? Just a suggestion.

Yeah, the battery in your remote doesnt really last long. Have you noticed it might take 2 trys to unlock the door when you press the door handle. That would be your first hint. It would be smart to change the battery and see if that helps.

I'm a supporter of the Low Smark Key battery idea. Try getting the battery replace and see what happens. THere are instruction on how to do it with pictures in th user manual.

post up your results.

You can verify if it is caused by low remote battery by insert the fob into the slot on the left side below the steering wheel. If you can start the car without any hesitation this way, it is definitely the battery, otherwise, you need to look somewhere else.

I have the same problem with my spare key i have to put my key in the slot as well for it to start i asked the dealer and they said it was the bad battery in the key also they said there was some kind or programing needed to be done to both keys as well so he told me next time i come bring both keys and they can do it. Its some kind of recall not sure if anyone has heard about that

If I remember correctly, the G35 loaner I got once displayed the battery strength in the instrument cluster for a few seconds after starting.

Yes, they do. Too bad they don't have it on the M.
