Hello all! I was wondering if anybody else has had this issue but seems really odd to me. I purchased my 06 Infiniti M35X back in November of 08 and it had 60K miles on it. I drove it for 3K miles and checked the oil. I noticed that the level was down almost a quart. As time went on I notice that it uses more and more and now with 98K miles on it I add almost a full quart at 1700K miles. Obviously this shouldn't be but there are no oil leaks and I see no blue smoke coming out of the exhaust. Does anybody else have to put oil in their 3.5L like this? I may be off loading this vehicle asap if I'm looking at a new engine situation but will still like to get into the same vehicle again assuming this isn't a normal problem for the car and maybe it was abused before I got it. Thanks!

On this last oil check it looks as though I was 3/4 of a quart low at 1000 miles and that is the first 1000 miles after the last oil change. I'm trying to decide if I should get rid of it before it gets worse and before it starts smoking....any thoughts?

You probably have a head-cover gasket leak. Its a common issue.

I didn't see any oil leaks around the valve cover gaskets and don't smell burning oil. Thinking my best option is to off load this car before it spews blue smoke and I can't get a dime for it.

Change the PCV valve.

I can certainly try that....worth a try as it is much cheaper than getting a new car.

My valve cover was leaking and it was hard to detect. It was leaking just enough to be an issue but small enough to not smell it all the time. You need to take engine covered off and look closely. If its actually burning oil i'd sell it.
