Its a 2006 and its at about 121,000 miles. I have begun to notice a slight squeak from under the hood. Its definitely consistent with vehicle speed. Soo I assume its the drive belt?? Is that a common thing to replace at high miles? If so is it an easy replacement ? Any help is appreciated , thanks.

Belts arent that expensive and changing it out I don't think is that big of a deal for some folks here. As for myself, I would have a private mechanic do that for me. Btw, I've past you up a couple of times around town.

If you have it in park and rev it does it make the squeeking sound? If so, you might want to get a stethoscope type deal or very long screw driver and poke around and put your ear to it. Might tell you where its coming from.

so this may be a stupid question but does it require urgent attention and is it something that has the potential to leave me unexpectedly stranded on the side of the freeway? I plan it taken care of this week but I have to drive to class about an hour away before then... thanks guys

A quick visual inspection of the belts could answer your question. You will be looking for small cracks and stretch marks.

alright so the lower belt is about one notch off of the lower right pulley if you are facing the front of the car. The belt itself is in good condition. But now there is this very strange rattling noise during acceleration. I assume that pulley is shot and making that knocking sort of noise. I am getting the oil changed tomorrow at the dealer and they do that inspection for free with the oil change so I am going to have them check it out then just fix it myself. But am I making a logical guess that the pulley is bad and causing that rattle? I pray its something that simple..... lol

Do you go to Lake Norman Infiniti? That's where I go for oil changes. I need to go soon.
