My LS1 S14 build thread

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

I figued i should start a thread so i can log everything i do, because i didnt do that with the RB and i always regreted it. over the next few months im going to chronicle everything that happens during the build as best i can so there is a history on it not only for my records because i have a crappy memory, but to help others. just consider this thread like a blog, but not as gay.

Friday, 5/11/07 - Removed enginefinal pic's of it

Wednesday, 5/16/07

all remnants of the RB gone, engine bay wiring completely removed, clutch system removed, miscellaneous part stripping and engine bay cleaning begins.

next: continue stripping the rest of the chassis wiring, remove misc parts nder dash, look for LS1 worthy of my car oh yea and sell the RB haha

Lookin good! Might want to go ahead and remove your stock hard lines (fuel) now before you get caught up in the swap. They'll be too close to the passenger side header.

If you need anything, don't hesitate to hit me up on AIM.

well i found a great deal on mine, so its kind of an exceptional price. 3300$ with 6 speed and a bunch of other stuff. has 80k miles

average price is about 4k for that setup.

Hey are you planning on any internal engine upgrades? I have been racking my brain looking for a cam to pair up with the new heads on my LS6 block. Its a mutt of an engine I got its from a 2002 Fbody but Its the LS6 block, with LS1 heads, and cam with a LS6 intake.

I just ordered LS2 heads, 90mm intake, and 90mm throttle body oh and injectors. But I am having trouble picking a cam I dont want to change rockers, and springs on a new set of heads, its killing me. But I want to add some oomph.

at least you know the history with my engine and know it was taken care of. im not lying about that 40000km bull**** like the importers do.

no internal upgrades other than cam and valvetrain, i have a relatively low power goal of 400whp.

you got the rare ls1, in 01-02 they all had the ls6 intake, and a RARE few has the ls6 block. its a factory setup like that.

with a fast 90/90 to make any use of that you are gonna have to run an aggressive cam, that means a spring change. the factory springs sucks. I havent decided on my cam yet but its gonna be in the .580 lift range, patriot gold dual valvesprings and some hardened pushrods.

Yeah thats not too bad of a price. I got my 2001 LS1 with the LS6 intake manifold, ECU and T56 (6speed) tranny for 3500 with 46K miles on it. The guy I got mine from has a F&Y body junkyard with over 40 LS motors for sale for the same deal I got mine for if anyone is interested. He is located in Bishopville SC.
