My LS1 S14 build thread

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

its been another crazy week for me and im glad i can FINALLY see the end in sight. over the past few days i have completely reloomed the entire engine harness, removed ALL the emissions bull**** from the harness and finished up almost all the wiring. just have to wire in the DLC and loom and finalize the starter and alternator wiring.

today i put the driveshaft in and cranked the engine for the first time to see if the new oil pump worked and was installed correctly, after a tense 15-25 seconds oil started coming out of the rockers to me that was the last major hurdle left. now its all electrical and small ****.

hopefully ill be starting it on friday

a couple pics of the wiring nightmare. i just got a new camera and ill be using it from now on haha

heres all the **** i removed. **** YOU EMISSIONS! :P

ITS ALIVE!

today at about 1:30 it ran for the first time! WOW it sounds awesome haha. ill get some video as soon as i can! I want to thank everyone that gave me advice and suggestions along the way. also helped me during the swap.

only real problem is there is a big oil leak on the passenger side thats finding its way to the collector/exhaust and smoking all over. ill deal with it on monday. other than that its all little issues/finishing touches that ill clear up next week and its finished!

couple pics

Ooooh man, glad you got it started! Looks like it's going great for you.I would probably have had a heart attack when it started from the pure joy...

Didn't you have a show you wanted to get this to? If you haven't missed it yet, you think it'll be 100% by the time?

Hahah, that's what I plan on doing. Think $15K would be enough for all parts and work? I have no tools, time, or knowledge for that matter, to do it myself... sadly.

HAHA...The first time I met Joe was some Drift Event in Phoenix. I walked up just as he got done tie strapping a bumper support IIRC. Joe doesn't do anything pretty...but pretty is for queers anyway.

I look forward to seeing you get sideways Joe.

haha i was ziptieing the bumper on. i ziptie it on so when i hit **** it doesnt destroy the bumper. it just comes off in 1 piece. that and the car is too low to get on the trailer with the bumper on so its a quick-removal thing

i want to thank arizona honda for letting me use their parking lot today. got to drift the car for the first time. WOW. it is absolutely ridiculous. i just dont have words to describe it.

untill today i hadnt had a chance to really open it up above 4kish because theres no room. i was afraid i wouldnt have any top end because theres so much midrange. i was wrong. its ****ing insane. im in love with it.

People have no idea just how much power that LS1 makes across the power band. Thrown into a lighter car, with different rear-end ratios and it's a beast. I'm going to wait for the 13b to blow in the FD, then I'm going to toss an LSX in there. The temptation is just too great.

Can't wait to see the videos Kamin! We need a slow-mo of you drifting by the camera with a football field wide grin as you're smoking rubber sideways.

What did you do for the shifter? The LS1 6-speeds' seem to have their top-loaders ALL the way at the back of the trans. DO they line up with the stock shift hole?
