My LS1 S14 build thread

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO THAT. That would be an awesome picture. Just make sure the cameraman is at the bottom of the corkscrew (obviously).

hey Kamin if you add in a nice flange at the turndown and leave some space past it you can easily swap between a muffled and a fully open setup if you dont put the flanges bolts in a hard to reach spot.

I wish I had done that on my exhaust... but mine is still super quiet even with just resonators and not even any mufflers. I think LS1s stay pretty quiet until you get a big fat cam in 'em and some longtubes.

You ever just consider some Flowmasters? Thats what on my car and it is beyond loud as F**k! It sounds Great when you are getting on it but when you let off at high RPM, the baffle noise is ridiculous! I have actually considered with changing my exhaust to HKS Hyper or something different.

Kamin, what happened with the boiling P/S fluid? Is it still an issue and if not, how'd you fix it?

i learned its not so much of a boiling issue as a pump design issue

the LSx pumps when you take the engine to high rpm spin too fast and cavitate. an underdrive PS pulley or a special road racing pump will probably alleviate the problem, but for now im just dealing with it.

if your looking to redo the exhaust you can get just the "x" section to make xpipes so you can route the tubes how you want ive seen em at summit, and for mufflers the thrush "quietflow" mufflers are nice for a track that has a sound requirement not sure how well they flow but the have a quite idle and a nice growl at higher rpms without being deafening some longtubes would really open it up ive heard of people gaining 30 hp from just changing the exhaust on the ls1(dont know from experience just what ive heard i have a gen1 sbc still lol) just some suggestions since your doing the exhaust anyway

was the RB that disappointing?
god i just noticed this question, sorry i missed it.

NOT AT ALL! i loved my rb and it served me well for many years. i just wanted something i could get parts for quickly and cheaply, it will never overheat, it will never pop an IC pipe, etc.

Kamin,

Im sure you already know this, but i gone say it anyway. Been working with the guy's from xtrememotorsports and they do alot of cam swaps and exhaust work. A mild cam with 2.5 to 3.0 inch exhaust all the way back wakes the ls1 UP!!!!! It has a great lope at idle and one hell of a sound that you just cant get enough of. Anyways nice build and vid

Car seems to be running very well. Any chance you post over on silviav8forums. If not any knowledge you could contribute would be great.
