My LS1 S14 build thread

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

yep!

im running the stock shifter. its actually a GM short shifter (according to the place i bought it from)

i didnt like the placement of the knob because it was a little far forward so i put it in a vice, hit it with a torch and bent it back at an angle about 2 inches. it sits really high and people have been saying they hate the shifter but its PERFECT for me. i like it kinda high with a short throw (from the short shifter). its closer to my hands so im quick to shift while im doing my thing.

Is it really far back, or better yet, could you take a picture for me so i can get an idea of where it sits? I'd like to do this while keeping the stock shifter.

it sits 2 inches forward in the hole, not back.

you can keep the stock shifter. if you dont want to, you can get a mustang shifter for a 03+ cobra and use that (they are shorter and angled back. same t56 transmission so it bolts on)

ill get a pic this week

So lets say I have the engine, trans, and car. Any clue on how much it'd cost to get it done by a shop? A rough estimate is good, I just don't have much of a clue.

Oh, and don't you have that event this weekend? I hope so, and I hope there's some videos

soooo, about this vid. . .I kinda need something to fap to lol

anyways, I saw a wrecked Camaro near my local mall and it was for sale with writing saying "Runs excellent," and a price of $1200. At that point my heart started beating and I was thinking oooooh **** will I finally make my decision on LS or KA-T and will I start my project sooner than expected?

Went to the house and talked to the owner and found out it was a V6 lol. Thought I would have the deal of my life but w/e prolly not ready for this project anyways.

i have no idea man, im into this thing for hundreds of hours so theres no way to gauge how much it will cost. thousands of dollars just for labor, for sure.

and yea i drove last night, car did awesome. need to do some more tuning to it but its great. there was a crowd of people around it the whole time when it was parked. good times.

That's alright, I was figuring it'd be well into the thousands, possibly even around $10k...

Good to hear it went well at the event.

Confused as to the point of the fuses and relays being in the center console but looks cool. I guess if you have a problem with something it will be a quick fix.

1.You're interior is hot. lol

2. That does sit really close to where the stock one goes. I bet i Could make the Console work around that.

Give me some motivation to go this route. . .what are the big ups of this engine compared to your RB?

Nice interior.

its nearly impossible to compare the two because the RB was basically stock (FMIC, boost controller.) its like comparing a 250whp engine to a 400whp one.

the only real downside to this swap is the staggering cost and amount of work it takes.

i actually really like that shifter, although it wouldn't fit in right in a stock 240 interior, i really want to do like an 8 ball lol.
