My LS1 S13

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

Hinson and PX Drift will modify the stock LS1 harness. I used Hinson and no troubles so far. I have heard good things about PXDrift from a few people.

Painless and Speartech both make a stand alone system with its own control unit.....well at least the Painless system does. The Painless kit is great from what I have heard......cnichols can tell you more about that if I'm not mistaken....I think he used them. He has one of the cleanest LS1 swaps Ive seen. Its not cheap but I've heard its the bomb. I havent heard much about Speartech other than the fact that it is cheaper.

Frankie at PXDrift is a good guy and will return emails quickly and actually calls you back if you request it on his site. He helped me out a couple times and all I bought from him was a power steering hose.

Sorry to threadjack, but yes, Painless makes a new harness/computer combo that is VERY easy to hook up, but is pricey since you have to buy the software as well. I've found tuning it to be pretty easy now that they have it all squared away and just bought out MSD's electronics division. It comes with a couple of stockish tunes (LS1, LS6, LS7) that gives you a great base to begin with. I drove around with their stock tune for a year with no problems whatsoever. Wired it up in a few minutes, fired the car up, and drove. It was honestly one of the easiest things about the swap.

Axe, things are looking good man! You will be VERY happy with it once you're finished. :D I'm still having a blast almost 2 years later.

Dont worry about threadjacking me...not even sure I fully understand the term to tell you the truth nor do I care. As long as everyone is bringing bits of information, experience, questions and the ocasional trash talking its all good.

I cant wait to get this thing all the way together and driving. I was hoping to have it all done by now but I am finding that taking my time is working out better. I may switch over to the painless system down the road but for now I will just roll with the current set up. I just hope I can find a local shop or software so I can tune the factory ecu.

Here's a bit of information from someone with experience: You shoulda put a f**king VQ35 in that bucket! That should cover the trash talk portion too. Show pictures of the battery install. It's brilliant!

"2 bad 2 slow" How bout too bad you suck! Ha, take that. +1 for me

Whats up? Hows your VQ/240 running...? Mine runs pretty good...very good actually....whats that?....yours inst running?...awww...thats too bad little fella. I can put it on the trailer , drive it around and you can get in it so you can pretend if you want. Will that make you feel better??

Trash talking aside...the battery install is tight coutesy of Carmo Fabrication. I figure we will finish up the relocated fuse/relay/ecu box then post it all up in one shot.

Scott just picked his car so lets get your piece over here and make some progress.

I sourced my engine/transmission/ecu/wiring/and accessories from this site:

http://car-part.com/

I ended up getting mine from a salvage yard in Gorgia: Cox Auto Parts 800-476-0310. The owner is a good guy and gave a decent warranty.

Hind site is 20/20. Not to speak for axe, but I think you are very correct and I'm sure he will agree.

Thanks for all the props! This was my first swap and at the time a full on kit seemed my best option. But I feel like I have learned quite a bit from it and would probably make my own mounts next time along with a few other things.

I need to get a y pipe fabbed up to mate to a ciruit sports catback, windshield, front bumper and a few other things here and there then I will be driving this thing.

Its going on the back burner for a month or so while I gather up some goodies and get carmo's bucket in the garage so we can get his 350SX wrapped up.

I know right? The LS13 has hogged the warm spot in the lions den long enough for now. Lets tape up the holes, cover it up, and put it in hibernation for a bit and get the BEAST'S little sister all dolled up for the ball.

Its on coilovers and lowered a bit but I plan on lowering it a bit more. Is that a picture of your car? If so ....nice...kinda what I am aiming for as far as the body goes.

I used the 240 Throttle cable and made a bracket for it from a piece of scrap metal I had laying around. I also did away with the 240 gas pedal stopper to give the pedal enough throw to open the trottle body all the way. The cable needed to be adjusted almost all the way out on mine. Im not sure if this is the best way but its what I have for now.

A friend gave me a DOHC cluster so I can use the stock Tach. The SOHC cluster wont work with the LS1 signal. I have a dakota digital unit in order to make the speedo work but I have yet to hook it up yet. I will probably hook up the speedo in a week or so as I am close to putting it on the road.

I finally have my exhaust all hooked up. Here are a few pics and a quick video. I had a Y Pipe made to hook into a circuit sports cat back system. Its 3" pipe all the way from the headers back with 2 high flow Magnaflow catalytic convertors, resonator and of course the muffler at the end.The cat back was chopped up a bit to move the front flange back some. To be honest I thought it would be louder than it turned out to be.

that exhaust is sensational... this is undeniably the best way to pull off an ls1 exhaust on an S chassis.

I was talking only about single tip, I like doing only singles on an s13.

but if duals your thing go for it.

Update: I decided to postpone sending the car to the body shop for now. A buddy of mine is pretty good with a rattle can and layed down a nice temporary semigloss black paint job.

Finally have a front bumper again, had the windshield installed, tightened up the trunk area a bit, lowered the car a bit more and had the alignment done.

Ive driven it on the street some and its a blast. I want to get it tuned and see what it does on the dyno. I have heard that Virginia Speed is good with the LSX engines....any suggestions on any other local shops that can tune this thing??

find a type X lip for that bumper.

or later on swap it for a version select VI below.... they're less expensive then a oem type X, if you sell you'll have money left.
