So I finally got around to getting off my arse and take the head off my motor to replace the HG with a Cometic gasket. In the process I put on a new ac compressor and receiver....because it's too damn hot in the south, or I'm just a puss lolOn to the good stuff........

I got a custom top mount header, and downpipe made from a guy from Cs12 about 6 months ago, so finally I'm able to put it on. I plan on getting it ceramic coated later on down the road...but in the meantime, header wrap will have to suffice.

The turbo I decided to go with is a Mitsubishi Heavy Industries(MHI) EVO III 16G....real deal, no China crap here

I'm going to wrap the downpipe as well....I'll get it ceramic coated at a later date too.

Also, I got a Nismo FPR....

I'll snap some more pics as I go. The head should be back on the block in a few days then I just have to button everything up. Hopefully it will be ready to drive up to Nicofest in Nashville.....

I'm doing a similar swap except I'm taking out my cometic headgasket due to low compression and replacing it with the oem instead. I had my block and head machines prior to assembly but never checked it with a straight edge and feeler gauge. I'm hoping compression numbers go past the minimum this time around.

Got it back together!

Still have to put the hood back on, fan shroud, and find a breather filter that will fit...any recommendations? Also, have to get the flange on my downpipe clocked so the exhaust will line up....other than that....good to go other than tuning

Nice manifold and turbo setup Do You have any pictures of turbo->dump gasket?

What is that "air intake pipe" just before the rad? Can You make more pics of it (with hood)?Do You suffer from high temperature under the hood on high load?

My friend has s12gp with ca18, and its like hell on exhaust side... You can read about that on http://www.nissanklubas.lt/for...=1431 but it is all written in Lithuanian language.

Nice GP

Turbo dump gasket....are you talking about where the downpipe bolts to the turbo? That air pipe is the original air filter box snorkel......the part thats by the cone filter is where it hooked on to the original air filter box. I haven't gotten on it yet....so no idea what the under hood temps are....although i can tell you that i let it idle for about 45 minutes, and the heat shield over the turbo was still cool enough to touch. Also I took it on a 35 minute cruise, and when i got home i popped the hood and it was still cool enough to touch. With the tubular header since there is less restriction within it...it shouldn't get near as hot as the original cast manifold.

Thanks!

The snorkel thingy is an OEM s12 part. Your best bet would be a junk yard.......or maybe post up on Club S12...most everyone on there dumps their stock box/ snorkel for a cone filter

Just make sure you get the head AND THE BLOCK decked. If you don't, I promise you'll regret it. You also need to tell the machine shop that you are using a metal HG, as they might use a different machine to do the re-surfacing. You also want to make sure that the shop you're using is more performance oriented.

yeah...I ummmm, didn't do any of that

We'll see what happens.....so far so good, so we'll see. Worst case...I have to pull the head again. If I do, i'll just put a Felpro gasket on.
