Thanks for the tip, I was under the impression that the 2001 QX4's were older than then 1999 models. When I popped out the panel I knew right away this wasn't going to work right because none of the lights were located behind the gauges, they were all behind the dummy lights. It does look great the way it is, but it would look better if it were the way I wanted it.nissandoms47 wrote:You need to realize you have a newer QX4. Totally different then the older QX4 clusters and rogers. His is a manual trans too. So its got the more basic cluster. And your QX4 has a tinted plastic. I dont see why you dont like how it looks stock i love it.
I bought a whole bunch of different ones just to see which worked best. I'm not sure if anyone sells these on ebay, they're not normal LED's with leads hanging off them. Now it's time to consult my service repair manual to find out exactly what I need, probably should have done that in the beginning.Qxxx4 wrote:what? rogers isnt stick? empty v how the hell did you pay $70 u should have at least bought crappy ebay led's to at least make sure the size is right man! good luck getting it to work though man.
I did not know that they are polarized which would explain why one of my turn signals didn't work at first. Yeah I saw your pics and this is a totally different setup, still has lots of brown and black twist locks but none of them light the gauges, such a bummer!Densetsu wrote:$70?
I looked at the service manual... there are only three bulbs responsible for the backlights. Asking in one of the other threads, seems that the third one is responsible for lighting up the odometer, so really only two are needed to light up the gauges. In the pictures, looks like they were the ones with the brown bases.
I still bought three, but it only ran me $12. Haven't installed them yet though.
And ya... like fueler said... LED = light emitting diode = polarity matters. Doesn't work one way, flip it and it should.
