Well, I sold my beloved 95Q today. Well actually I traded it for a I30. Driving too much and with gas getting crazy I needed something with better milage. I want to thank this Forum for all the good information it gets out there for all the Q drivers. Iwill miss my Q but all good things must come to an end. My Q had 165K miles on it and was running good. I hope the next owner takes care of her.

If you don't mind, how much did you let her go for? Just trying to get a sense of market value. Hope you enjoy your new car, the Q is definitely a thirsty car.

Wonder how much better I30 is. Certainly not 30%. I bet 2 mpg, 3 mpg at best.

I certainly prefer RWD to FWD, but in urban rush hour parking lots, who cares?

I got $ 2700.00 for it on a trade. I probably could have sold it myself for 3800 but didn't want the hasstle. One dealer wouldn't even talk trade due to the miles. The I30 should get 29 to 30 on the road.

Really? My 2.7L Acura only gets 24-25 mpg at 75 -80 mph at best.

But only a 4 speed transmission. although overdrive is high.

The bulk of the money saved will be in maintenance.

Well if saving $1,000-$2,000 per year is meaningful vs the pleasure of a Q you probably did the right thing? I would insist wife and kids get a second/third job to pay for Q requirements.

Or at least insist they go barefoot for the summer.

Well, everyone has to make their choices, but I see reall world economy of cars I would consider replacing it with is not worth the $45K $65K these cars cost for another 2 or 3 mpg. Then there is the depreciation hit.

But if I had to look at another used car that was better than its price, an I30/35 wouild be considered even though I abhor the rear beam axle.

Yeah, the rear axle should have been independent but every manufacturer is trying to save a dollar. The I30 drives really well and the front seat actually has more leg room than the Q did and at 6'-2" I need all I can get. Its alot easier to work on. I changed all the fluids, checked pads ect. Plugs are easy to get to and general maintenance is a breeze. Mabey one day when I'm not driving 35K miles a year I can get a newer model Q or M.

Yes, I/Maxima does have more interior room. At 6'2", I can see that as a factor as I am only 6' and just fit the G50. The FYG33 has a little more room in front also, but not quite as much as the Maxima.

I don't seem to be feeling the effects of the gas price increases. Sure they're higher than before, but as far as really taking a toll on me to the point that I have to seek another car, I've been fortunate.

On the days that 92 gets obscene @ $3.15+/gallon I usually have quite enough. The needle is just a tad below F. The most I can recall spending lately for a fill-up was $27. I was at a little above 1/2 a tank.

I don't drive much during the week, so I guess that's the reason. (School, work, and the Q have robbed me of my social life, so I have no friends. Nobody understands my Q. They think I'm crazy for spending so much on things they deem unimportant because they can't see the work done. They don't understand that some of the most expensive repairs happen under the hood and on the underside of the car.)

My 94 Q gets 15-16 combined mileage, 17 for the 93Q. My 1995 Maxima gets 20MPG combined. Not a big difference at all.

But $20 would take me to work/back about 1 1/2 times in the Q and worries for being low. The Maxima would give me 3 full work and back trips on $20. Thats a 30 min drive to work half city streets and half interstate.

I30 FTW! It ain't no Q but its the next best thing!

HARDLY!!!! I would choose a G35 over an I30 or I35 anyday, everyday. The massive front wheel drive torque steer ruins the driving feel in the I, and the cheap rear suspension matches the destruction caused by the front end. The interior also comes off as much more nissan rather than Infiniti feeling and looking to me. Overall, not a special feeling car at all, just another maxima wearing a little jewelery.

Well driving almost 800 miles a week. The Q got 22 MPG on the road where the I30 is getting 29.5. Thats a 43% savings in gas.I calculate a 126 dollars saved on gas alone per month not including maintanance that was comming up on the Q. But for the 7K swap I could have rebuilt the motor, trans ect and probably broke about even. I plan on giving the I30 to my son in 2 years for his first car. The Q was just too much car to give to a new driver. It was all I wanted and more at times. I do miss the power and luxury ride the Q had.

True. 800 miles a week is quite the hike.

Seems like you're driving a commercial truck?

Ever consider living near where you work or find a job near where where you live?

Maybe folks will have to start considering such factors in the not too distant future. Like RIGHT NOW!

I am firmly convinced that cheap gas is not going to get cheap again as the rest of the world joins the folks "us" that like to "jump in the car" and tool over to the MALL to "window shop", or, "go there to walk for exercise"?

The one that gets me is those that have bike racks on the top or back of the car an drive off to some area to ride their bikes?

There are going to be some rude awakenings coming, soon.

Jack
