Well.. ive started to make my own manifold.. i got my flanges off JGS precision turbo, as well as 20 - 90 degree bend weld-els.. heres the design i will end up with.. if all goes as planned.

OF course a little tweaking will have to be done while in fabbing.. but, its nothing too difficult.. I may have to change the angle the turbo will mount. so its not rubbing the side of the engine bay.. ill keep updates going on.

Wow!That looks like some good stuff. I guess youre using stainless steel? What kinda of welding are you gonna use? I know nada about welding...BTW, what program is that??

that program is called G-max... im using stainless steel weld-el's (you can get them from a plumbers store) and a mig welder..

good design. seems like you are creative.im sure it would flow good like that.i used to model in 3D studio max and Rhino 3D. definitely not easy!

hmmm.. If i am able to make the first one error proof, i dont see a reason i couldnt make a few more... as long as your willing to make your own downpipe.

nobody wants to make a manifold that has the turbo outlet on the side, like mine? There is absolutely NO space issues then, and the DP has to be custom anyway, so... just look, this is log style, but equal length should work fine too, especially if you have this great modeling tool...

check the yahoo pics, they are most updated.

Logs don't flow as well as tubular, they will work very well though.

I'm building a tubular as well, fairly similer to yours, here's a word of advice, get some PVC and use it to make a mock up of your collector. Alot cheaper then jacing up stainless.

you can make a TUBULAR manifold that has the outlet on the side... to put the turbo on top always has clearance issues and no matter what you do, it'll make you have to wrap up all the line (brake, etc) in heat reflective material. on the bottom, the turbo is hard to reach (although some say this has a better weight distribution advantage), and has some power steering clearance issues. On the side... well, it's a compromise, and if made well, can be much more accessible and advantageous than top or bottom.

If you can weld a divider plate inside the log type to seperate the 2 channels on either side you would have alot better flow.

wow! you made it look like mine! AND an external wastegate! amazing.... what I am wondering about is, whether this is poroportional to real life... because the distances between the 1/2 and 3/4 runners don't look like are close enough, or as if the tubes have no thickness to them.... but overall great, both designs.... if you want to keep the flange on the side (last design), and use equal length runners, make two runners loop on top, and two on the bottom like a butterfly sort of.

well, i was thinking, if i made a top mount.. i would have extreme issues with regular maintenence... IE Sparkplugs/wires.. so i think the log style/bottom mount is the best option. No, the flange isnt exactly to life-size, i tried best i could.. what i did, is used Gmax, and copied a pic of the back of YOUR manifold (sil80drifter) with a pic of the bare flange. then outlined it in 3d.. but, i guess the exact angle that it was taken at, was kinda difficult to get directly proportionate to real life.. but you can get the idea..

don't wanna bug you but is there a way you could put the lengths of the sections and angles on those manifolds. I'm getting tempted on doing a mockup out of pvc then actual steel tubin for a possible manifold for my s14. Just wanting to get an idea on how many bends and lengths of straight tubing i'd use.

for the DE?.. i can make a quick 3d mockup if youd like. .. what do you want, top/bottom/side mount? to give me an idea.

Ok not to thread jack but I searched and couldn't find anything. What are the specs on piping used for making turbo manifolds, is there a certain kind/grade/diameter or what? Thanks.

Errrmmm yeeaahhhhh a non equal length log is better than a non equal length tubular. just to throw in my .02

To clarify what I meant. I was reading that JGS uses a thickness of like 0.16** mild steel, and S13ChucKAT is using stainless(thickness?) I was just wondering if anyone else had suggestions on thickness, grade of steel(ie galvanized, plain old pipes, etc), interior diameter, etc.
