My Ka24e is on fire as we speak...yes it's burning down before my eyes, what should i do? okay okay j/k it's not burning anymore, but it was like 1 hour ago..I was driving it pretty hard for 3 hours straight and 2 blocks from my house it started smoking really bad out of my muffler and hood. I stop and pop my hood..my sh*t is on fire!!!!!! I ran upstairs in my apt. building jackie chan chop the glass box and take out the fire extinguisher run back down and i hold the hood and my friend puts out the fire. I'm wondering......... has this happened to anyone else? Am I the proud owner of the first 240 to catch on fire? It was on fire around the exhaust manifold and valve cover. Please share any stories or any idea's? I'm guessing the valve cover gasket is blown and leaked out oil to the exhaust manifold and it caught fire. OR i blew my head gasket, because there was a alot of white smoke.. I dont know I never had my car catch on fire so I don't know alot about this.. please give me some feedback!!!!

white smoke is coolant, but the oil idea is a great possibility

under extreme conditions coolant can catch fire. heres an example, anyone remember the nissan van???? the one the manufactures last recall to fix it had a procedure which included draining all the vital fluids so it could be crushed at a wreaking yard.

yea thats the one!

Yeah was prob just oil, or maybe something fell on manifold and caught fire. I doubt u messed anything up, was prob something that just caught fire around manifold...that thing does get awfull hot.

happened to my buddy with his SOHC. he drove it around normally, parked in the driveway, went inside and a passerby knocked on their door and told em their car was on fire...it was toast. front end, everything.

Hmmm mine was smoking one day too, after I did my brakes, forgot to put the cover back on the brake fluid, that stuff is flammable, check to see if a brake line hose wasnt cut or something.

I've heard of fuel leaks from injectors (bad leaks) getting ignited before...seems like it'd be hard to do on a KA though and highly improbable.
