i have no idea whats wrong with my car, one night when i went raceing with one of my friend my motor just shut down on me when i shift to 3rd gear (it was the second run). as soon as it hit 3rd my whole motor completly stop on me. as soon as it did that i parked to the side and tried to start it up again and it wouldnt, until my 3rd try and then my motor started up and running ok. later on that night i called my friend and he said its gotta be my vacum hose is leaking air, because the same thing happen to him. the next day i went to my mechanic and he said there was no leak on my vacum hose. about 2 days later i punch my car all the way to 3rd (shifting at 6500 RPM) and the same problem happen. in my past races, my motor have never did this before. so i need lots of help. THANKZ

well first of all you shouldnt be red-lining the car! it is VERY bad for the engine! you could blow it! secound that is most likely the rev limiter, not letting you blow the engine that is why it shuts off! i remember when i had a 90' coupe and i was racing and that happen to me...... i was like :dang, i am never doing that again". and by the way you shouldnt really rev to red line.... it has been proven that the KA's power is mid ranged... so there really is no need to rev past 5500 RPM.

COOL!! well my only advise is that you not rev to 6500rpm. you feel that you are losing out on HP if you dont rev to 6500. but in reality you are HPs and torque i have seen a 240 on the dyno and most of its power comes from the 3500-5500 range! so after you past 5500rpm you start to lose a little HP and torque. the KA24DE is not a high end engine.... dont forget this is NOT A HONDA ENGINE!! if you where driving an integra then yeah rev to 7000rpm, because that is a high compression engine, but dont do that to the KA! it wasnt build for that! but all in all its your car. and i would hate to see a blown KA!!

I think is one of your sensors, it behaves that way to protect your car from going over certain RPM's that can be detrimental to your engine. I can't remember which one.... Download or find an FSM and use the trouble shooting guides included with it. It list faults by symptoms and shows a handy flowchart that you can use to get back o the road again.
