Hey guys, just wanted to let you know I finished my KA-T and finally got to drive it last night! I'm running a 50 trim at 6psi, and damn that thing hits fast. I get full boost at about 3100 RPM. AFR's were pretty solid at 11.5 - 11.8 I'm sure the neighbors called the cops last night, cause when that wastegate opens up

But I do have a question, I am running a HKS SSQV knock off, and I don't think its opening up. Can this BOV work at this low of PSI? I hear some fluttering when I let off, and I think it is compressor surge. Can anyone verify what exactly that sounds like?

Here's my setup, Pics and vids to come, I'm taking it to a track in Bowling Green, KY this weekend

Im not really familiar with that BOV, but there should be some way to loosen or tighten the springs in it. In your case you want to loosen it up a bit. Try searching on the forums here I'm sure someone is using one.

just loosen the screw on the back until you dont hear any surge and make sure you have a good vacuum source for it.

I've done everything possible short of trashing my real SSQV and it flutters at low boost no matter what. Try reving the engine with your hand over the BOV and feel if there is any air coming out.

You'll know if it's going off or not, it's so high pitched.

Also, how'd you go about getting the tune, did you just email them or what?

Thanks, that second video def solidifies that it is compressor surge. Also, I think it is because I don't have a strong enough vacuum source. Where is the best vacuum source to get it from? Brake Booster? Any others? Also, I'll get pics up tomorrow afternoon, i've been so busy trying to figure this out.

I T'd into the FPR vacuum line, and my car would rev on its own like crazy. Like it was on cruise control that I couldn't actually control. Kinda scary. Also, i tried using one of the 4 vacuum ports under the throttle body, and it also didn't work, and I held the line up to my ear and it sounded really weak. Which is strange cause my boost gauge shows 20 VAC at idle.

Maybe I'll try one of the bigger ports under the throttle body tomorrow, if that doen't work, I'll try and t into the Brake booster. That should work shouldn't it? Thanks for the help.

I didn't hear any surge on that video. Check the one Florida showed a few posts up. Thats exactly what mine sounds like and I'm about 99% sure its surge, coming from the turbo side. But like I said, I'll try a couple things when I get home today.

So I guess that the ECU is working for you? Have you played with consult yet? The guys at Hybridka are sometimes helpful for tuning your ECU. Good Luck!

haha, I haven't gotten the ecu yet. This is off my Enthalpy ECU tuned for 615cc injectors, I'm just running some serious fuel pressure right now. Thats why I bought the ECU from you.
