So after getting the bored, honed, and rebuilt short block from the shop, it was time for me to start the rest of the rebuild.Heres the block when I got it back from the shop.It wasn't that hard to get the block into my basement...took 3 guys and a dolly. The fun part will be getting it back up out of the basement . So after getting a little work are set up, I started the rebuild. I have been following the FSM, and a thread from ka-t.org on how to rebuild a ka24de. Both are very helpful in guiding me through my first engine rebuild. I also invested in a torque wrench, and went ahead and torqued down the head. I also decided to test mount the turbo mani, and turbo.

One thing I'm unsure about is whether to get a oil filter sandwich plate, or just run off the stock oil pressure sensor for my oil feed line? I've heard that getting the feed from the stock oil pressure location, sometimes breaks off, and can cause damage. I also have my oil pressure gauge to hook up. Has anybody had any experience with the sandwich plate? If so, was it good or bad, and which one did you buy?

To the OP, i was wondering how much did it cost you to get it machined? I'm going the ka-t route and was wondering whats the price range. I know it depends on the shop and location but was wondering how much you paid. Also what you turbo kit your using jgs?

I got mine bored .2 over, honed, and decked and it was 260. Call your machine shop and ask them though, they are going to give you an exact price, the best we can do is ballpark it.

so I finished the engine rebuild tonight. I got a few small things to do, but now its pretty much getting the turbo stuff on the engine. Oh and is that a good spot for the oil return line? I have a spare oil pan if I did it wrong? but I'm pretty sure thats right.

yea I was going to paint it, but I was too anxious to get the car running. I do plan on painting it though, probably around the time I turbo it.

Hey guys, so my engine is all broken in, and runs like a champ. Now I have all these turbo pars sitting around, all not installed yet, only because I was going to get my ECU reflashed to handle the turbo. The problem is funds are REALLY low right now, and I cant afford a reflash. So I was wondering if it would be okay for me to run low boost (3-4psi) without a reflash. I have a wideband hooked up, along with an apexi safc neo for tuning the 370cc injectors. So would this be safe to run low boost? the turbo i'm running is a turbonetics t3/t4 50 trim. Let me know what you guys think.

Nah, i wouldnt bother. Do it right or just stick N/A. SAFC as a soul tuning device is asking for a blown motor IMO.

If you really must boost now, buy a 8:1 FMU and just run your stock injectors for at max 7-8 psi. At that level you should also retard your base timing by 2 degrees or so.

whoa!so you rather have a fmu than a s-afc and a wideband??that does not make sense? to the op use the s-afc and the wideband since funds are low get a knocklite and u should be straight .take it from a guy thats been turbo for going to 3 years on the afc with 525cc injectors wideband and knocklite.

oh and insted of flashing the ecu i recommend nistune or calumrt.which is my next step.
