my ka makes this bad grinding noise when it is going into its compressionstroke when starting but in exhaust stroke sounds like a normal kamotors not locked. can anyone help me and tell what that is? warped crankshaft? bad main bearings? or has my Ka just give up on me

i buy the car with the motor in it so i dont know history on how the guy treated it ,but i did have to put a oil pan gasket on it (really bad oil).

What happened before all this? Did it die on you? Or you just got up one morning and it started doing that? Does it run?

Well since its not running first thing i would do is do a compression test. If its ok, check fuel pressure. Remember, for an engine to run you need to have compression, spark, and fuel. Make sure you have spark. If you have fuel pressure, spark, and compression get a hold of a noid light to see if ur injectors are firing. Lemme know what you find out.
