today during lunch i went to go grab something out of my car, and i went to unlock it with the remote and it made this stuttering noise and went back and locked, also a couple of winters ago my dad tried to unlock the car with the key but the key broke in the door and it remains there so now i have to get in through the passenger side door, whenever i try to open the lock from the inside it wouldnt budge no matter how hard i tried, what do u thinks messed up/the cheapest solutionthis is really making me contemplate getting rid of it and finding a cheap 240thanks, matt

The same thing happened to mine and one shop said they couldn't open it. I ended up taking it to the Infiniti dealership. They, apperently, have seen this problem before and knew how to open the door and then replaced the lock module. I didn't get a chance to ask them how they opened the door.

Just turbo the KA. Much cheaper and larger displacement.

My experience:

The short: Make sure the outside handle is fully depressed into the door.

Long: Had the same problem this winter. The lock would make the shuttering sound, the latch inside would move slightly but not enough to unlock it and would go to the closed position. I sat for 15 minutes using the inside unlock button moving it to the open and closed position while lightly forcing the tab to the open and closed position hoping it would engage. I sprayed wd40 and liquid wrench all over the thing and tried some more. It eventually worked it way free and now it works fine. My keys never worked but somehow the liquid wrench cleared that up too (strange, it seems a lot of my problems fix themselves. You might be able to coax the key out?

I don't remember exactly but it seems that it was under $200 including the new lock module.

check the fuzzycats diy page in the FAQs, he has a whole page on door lock troubles. I've heard people replacing the door lock timer under the dash, it's pretty cheap I think.
