Post

I get a letter in the mail from my landlord.

"It has been brought toi my attention that your pick up truck has been leaking diesel fuel onto the pavement. This has caused damage to an area about 5'x5' in our "newly" paved parking lot.

With regular gasoline, the damaged area needs to be cleaned with any type of detergent / soap, however with diesel fuel, the damage is permanent. The only way to fix it is to remove the damaged blacktop and repave it. As of now, you will be responsible for part if not all of the repair cost. We do not have estimates yet.

In the meantime, you need to: repair your truck so that it doesn't leak fuel or remove it from our parking lot or put something underneath it to prevent any further damage. As of yesterday the truck was parked one spot over from the damaged area, so it needs immediate attention to prevent more damage to another area.

If you have any questions please call me at the office."

My truck does NOT leak diesel. Furthermore, my truck has not run since January. It has been parked in the same spot for about 4 months. I couldn't start it because it was too cold in January, and I can not run an extension cord across the parking lot to plug in my block heater. It hasn't run since it warmed up because it sat for months with out running. As of today, it still has not moved.

There are NO spots under my truck, other than rain water.

The spot in the parking lot is where the neighbor in apartment 4 parked his Duramax diesel plow truck all winter.

I'm ready to call my lawyer and the better business bureau. This is not the first time she has done something like this. 2 years ago, she called me saying she was going to fine me for "firing my paint ball gun out the window at the cars int he parking lot." She claimed to have a witness that saw me. I laughed at her. I do not even own a paintball gun and the last time I fired one was in 1999. I told her this, and then pointed out that I did not even have a window that looked into that parking lot. She said she would get back to me and I never heard anything about it again. When I moved out of that apartment I moved into a larger apartment in an adjacent building (my current apartment). When i moved out my brother was cleaning the carpets and the carpet cleaner broke, leaking a full tank of water into the carpet. She called " a friend of hers who cleans carpets" to extract the water from the carpet and I would receive a bill. I the received a bill for over $700 saying that she removed over 5 gallons of water and that the wood had to be specially treated to prevent mold. I protested, but paid the bill in protest as my other option was eviction or court. Court would have lead to me moving out eventually even if I won, as I knew she would hold it against me, so I begrudgingly paid the bill to end it. Now she is at it again. I was considering moving when my lease ends in June because of the problems. I am certain I am moving now. When I speak to my neighbors, as I often do, they are all telling em similar stories, and of the 7 people I regularly talk to amongst the 12 apartments, at least 5 are not renewing their leases.

This morning I set my d40 to max res and went out side and took 32 pics of the lot damage and the total lack of damage under my truck. I have 4 people lined up to sign affidavits and / or appear in court to attest my truck has been in non-running condition since January, amongst whom is a diesel mechanic friend of mine who works for Uhaul and has been helping me work out the no start problem.

It's going to suck having to deal with stuff like this once I graduate. She doesn't seem to intelligent seeing that she accuses you for things that are not even possible such as the paintball gun thing.
