Well, I have been thinking of doing a lot of crazy things to the car, SR, CA, RB, V8, KA24ET, most have been done before, but I have not really seen supercharged KA's, maybe there is a reason?

What I am looking at using is either a Eaton M62 or M92 Blower, and doing a custom intake manifold.

Basically, modifying the plunum so that the blower assembly would sit on top of it, and have the pulley align with the crank pulley, I don't have AC, or Power steering to get in the way.

The Throttle body goes before the blower so that is no problem.

WHAT do you guys think? Probably running 7PSI-10PSI.

Would have to address the fuel, bigger injectors and SAFC, or piggy back like the Perfect Power SMT-6i.

This guy is doing a similar thing on a mustang.

If I get creative tonight, I will use photoshop and try to get a picture of what I would do. :)

This is the mustang setup, he is in the process of building it, just pretend it's on the KA manifold..between the engine and shock tower.

I've also been thinking of ways to implement a Roots onto the KA motor. I think it would be a nice idea, but I don't like how the charge air has nothing cooling it. That would limit power unless you ran race gas or had a special profile on the propellers. I also thought of having it set up above the headers, similar to the Miata's set up. That would allow an air intercooler set-up, but there may be clearance issues with the distributor and emissions devices. Another thing that may be a concern is the bottom end strength. Roots has a linear powerband to the stock powereband, which means there's more power down low. I wonder if it would increase side loading.

I looked at putting it above the exhaust manifold too, but using a commonly availably roots blower like for GM and Ford would pretty hard since it's a bigger unit, and the distibutor I think would be in the way.

I just talked to a shop where they rebuild superchargers and I can get the casing from a ford M90, I will get that, and then I can use it to mock up where I can put this thing.

I will try to make a system that I can use an intercooler.

The other thing would be to get a cetrifugal blower, and put it on the drivers side, then you can intercooler that setup, but the blower is generally more expensive then roots.

get the blower and intercooler system off of a supercoupe. then all you would have to make is the manifold/adapter.

Wouldn't you need a pretty beefy belt for a supercharger?? The stock belts aren't very beefy IIRC.

Hey here's an idea. There is a kit made by Alpine Developments for the Hyundai Tiburon and it is intercooled inside the intake manifold. It is a liquide system that has a liquid-to-air intercooler inside the intake manifold and the water is cooled like an air-to-air intercooler in the front. Maybe you can do something like this. If you are good enough to fabricate a manifold for the blower this shouldn't be much harder.

Just scroll down the pictures, you'll see what I mean. A buddy of mine has this kit on order right now for his 2002 V6 Tiburon.

Hope this helped.

Hmmmmmmm, They are using the M63 blower, for a 2.7L V6, maybe the M90 blower from the 3.8L V6 Ford is a little much, I mean, I only have a 2.4L SOHC.

My friend here has a BRAND NEW M62 blower, with the custom inlet and outlet made, maybe I should look at this, he is asking 1200$ CDN (800$US) For everything.

i bet the M62 would be shorter then the M90 and might fit better.

yeah thats about the same thing i was think about doing about 2 years ago. very simarly to the miata jackson racing SC kit. but i decided it would just be easier and cost about the same to go turbo.

my dad want's to put a supercharger in my 240, except he's thinking of using a centerfugal (sp?) type supercharger between the block and the radiator, where the fan currently is

edit: my thread about this is in this forum somewhere, look for it and talk to me.
