Im not really looking to race this car. I have a 83 Sentra that kinda looks like it would make a good looking car if it had some help. I think it would look diffrent if it had some KC style lights on the bumper. Maybe get my old surfboard rack out of the trunk and make or buy some sort of basket like the kind on the rack of a Jeep and hook it on. Maybe a 2-colour paint job like red and white? This isnt rice right? I want something VERY diffrent and a 83(ish) Sentra is a good start. DAMNIT i want my frist car back!! BTW it is a 2dr 5sp 1983 Datsun by Nissan Sentra, needs a timing belt and a little TLC. Was my frist car and i paid $350 for it then my grandmother gave it to my uncle who trashed it. I cant stand to see it rusting away in our little "junkyard".

hmm id say why not make it into a real one ?

get the rule book and membership from SCCA and see if its something you wanna do , fake rally car isnt a good idea , but a legit rally car built to a certain class spec would be diffrent , and if it was actully campainged thatd be even beatter . matter of fact go look at back issues of Sport comapct car , josh jacot has had quite a few rally experences in a old 510 datsun , and if that thing could make it i know yours can , hell my 87 spent more time on gravel in dirt than on pavement , caorse it wasnt never in competition but hey i was in highschool

if i had the cance to get my sentra back id pay doulbe what i paid for it , hell even 600 times what i paid for it ....lets see double would be $2.00 and 600 times would be ...ummm .......shoot i was never good at counting past 23...oh yah $600.00 ..

time to get back to that party ...someone pass the captin morgan

Quote »and if it was actully campainged thatd be even beatter[/quote] What do you mean by this? I really dont want to race the car b/c i dont want to put so much into it and wreck it. Plus im just going for a look that no one else has. I know Sentras can hold their own on tarmac, gravel, rocks and a little sand and mud. I punched a hole in the gas tank on a rock road and threw a brake pad trying to aviod hitting a dog or something like that. Where racing it would be fun, Im really not into racing it. Hell got to remember its a 83 with almost 340,000~miles on the clock. 40,000 of those from me in almost 8months. And doing this would mean i would have to give up my 240 and drop my hope of owning my dads 280ZX.

whoa dude , i didnt know grabbing the sentra would end hope in getting a z , grab the z by all means

i just ment it would be even beatter if the sentra saw competition , built several race cars with tons of miles on the clock , theres a GTI with 200,000 on the clock , running around in florida somewhere , my 87 held up fine it had 256,000 on it , but i do see your point .

i guess its just my opinon on it, just didnt like cars that looked like something they could do but cant ...fake cars ....but thats me , its your car dude and you need to do with it whatca want , cars reflect there drivers , do what you want to it as that will show who you are

Well im more over to the Sentra b/c the motor was rebuilt not too long ago. The Z is a little rusty, and the t-tops leak. It also has no 3rd gear. Also the Sentra would be cheaper to run, think about it State Farm is gona hate me. Im 17, 2 speeding tickets, 1 careless driving, with a Z? The Sentra would be cheaper than the Z or the SX.

im pretty sure there are some levels of scca rally comp. that dont require the car to be made non-streetable. i personaly (and again this is purely an opinion) have to agree with stoneage_turbo on this one, i was never a big fan of cars that look like something they will never be. i say a rally looker should at least run one rally before its time comes... although i do understand completely the point of giving it a different look (and honestly riced out b12's never seemed very apealing)

im just saying, if it was me, a low level rally car has minimal engine mods, decent suspension mods, and a b12 has (at least around here) used parts availability out the a**.

if it was me... good luck with it either way bandit.. keep us informed and try to get some pics!late-pete s

The Datsun 510 was a highly desirable and famous rally car back in the 70's.

i agree vimmy , but his 510 wasnt a great example , needed a motor swap and quite alot fo work to get it where it is now , when he strated the whole story that car appared to not have a snowballs chance in hades in makeing the end of a rally ...

dont get me wrong dudes , i love 510s ....particulrly custom turboed 4 door 510s
