so we finally finished my car. I was on somewhat of a budget and we wante dto see how this turbo would work out so bear with me. Ive got a decent seized frontmount intercooler. 550cc injectors. walbro 255 fuel pump. manual boost controller. New fuel rail with fuel regulator. but my main concern is the turbo. Its .83 ar on the hot side and .50 ar on the cold side. i got the turbo for a deal or else i would have gotten something more matching to the car. i hit max boost around 4300 give or take and thats about 15-18 lbs. is there anyway to get this turbo to spool quicker? i can but dont want to stroke or bore the motor just yet as im about to start another project( rb25 s13) but i dont think this turbo would do well on that car either so im just going to leave it where it is for now.

i think if you port the turbo or the manifold you should gain some spool time.

Tubular Exhaust Manifold and Full 3+" exhaust. 4300rpm is still pretty good. Any chance you know what kind of turbo you have? T3/T04e? GT Series? T2 or T3 Housing? Also hop on the dyno and check your numbers. Those 550's get to the end of there duty cycle around 350whp.

yea ive got a top mount exhaust mani, full 3 inch exhaust and its a t4 garrett turbo( with a john deer sticker haha) its like a big diesel turbo or something. but its t4 flange. do those injectors really stop at 350? im thinking once this guys cracks my ecu and runs a sisterboard i can get proper tuning ill be around 400..... maybe i need new injectors?

Id go 740cc so you have the extra duty cycle for safety.

I've been throwing that combo around in my head for a few weeks, do you like it? can you think of anything you would change with it?

i love it. At 10lbs on a decent tune i made 300 whp. I run AEM EMS. The only thing i would think of is maybe going with a gt30. I have 9:1 compression and spools around there. If you dont mind the spool time go for it, i dont plan on changing it because i am in love with the set up.

well im thinking on sleeving the block, and shooting for somewhere between 475-500whp (i know..its stupid..lol) do you think the turbo is actually capable of it? I know garrett says the turbo is good for 600hp, but is it really capable of it? also, the peak boost manifold....are they as nice as they look? any cracks yet?

I am sure the turbo will be able to make that power. The manifold is nice i haven't had any problems before. I dont think you need to sleeve the block. I have seen the stock sleeves hold mid 500hp without any problems.

Stock sleeves are good over 500whp. GT35R .82 A/R will get over 600whp with proper tuning and 272 cams. A guy on freshalloy made 589whp with a S14 low port head with 264/272 cams. 600whp should be possible with a S13 high port head.

that'd be crazy in a street car. a little too much for me, lol. but a sick drag car if you had the right suspension setup.

+1

you could also have the manifold/head port matched.(im not sure if thats what xsublimefrekx was talking about, or if he was talking about smothing out all the rough parts of the turbo/manifold) also an aftermarket intake manifold could help increase airflow
