allright so i bought this 240sx, a 90 with a 97 ka24de, the guy i bought it from has dissapeared or id be asking him these questions, but here it is. About a month ago for no reason that i know of the car started bogging, then quitting tottaly whenever it gets too hot, either outside or just in the engine bay, however its not fault of the engine temperature. By bogging i mean, the fuel seems to not be igniting anymore, so it sounds electrical, but like i said, only when its hot outside. at night i can drive it almost 3 times as long before it even starts to bog and it will never actually quit on me, in the heat it dies after only 15 minutes. I took it to a mechanic to have diagnostics done and they only saw it in working condition so they *****ed about how poorly the wiring harness was wired and thats where the problem probably resides, even though they have no idea what the problem is. Very frustrating just wondering if anyone here has had that problem, i hope its something simple like a new ignitor or something, but any comments would help alot thanks.

ugg...wiring a 97 into a 90. that makes my head hurt thinking about it. anyways, you're correct, it does sound like an ignition problem. what you should do is find an ignitor and switch them to see if that fixes the problem.

This is a common issue in stock car racing. The ambient temperature gets too hot and can fry the ignitor. In NASCAR, they use two ignition setups so if one fails, the driver can switch to the backup.

Dallas isn't exactly the coolest city on earth, so my guess is that the ignitor is on its way out, so everytime it gets hot (either by being used for long periods of time or by ambient temperatures, it begins to misfire.

it's just a guess. since the car used to run fine, I can only assume it's a failing part on its way out of the door.
