1975 Honda XL 100, sits for years and with a few mins of tinkering starts right back up. Anyone else have an old school honda motorcycle?

My first bike was a '84 Nighthawk S 700. Perfect 1st bike, and way ahead of its time. I have a '85 Nighthawk in the garage right now. It was given to me and I only rode it twice. It's just been sitting, and the last time I tried to start it, it was completely dead. I tried jumping with a strong battery, but nothing. I'm guessing a groundwire has rusted through somewhere.

Jump it off your car - But just *tap* the terminals while cranking.

I had a red/white/blue 84 Interceptor, which I *believe* was the same bike.... :D

I did jump it off the car, though it was fully hooked up while I was working on it. The connection tested perfect at the terminals, but not a single light came on when I turned the key. Completely dead. I checked the fuses up top, not sure if there are any others down low.The interceptor was the predecessor to the VFR if I'm not mistaken...V-4, as opposed to I-4, right? The VFR-800 is a SWEET ride.

Yep - Correct.

Sounds like your first diagnosis was (as usual) right on. :D

I got a 1980 CB900C. It's been stripped of all the touring crap, so now it just flat out flies.:firedevil

Is that the one with the dual-range transmission?

My first motorcycle when I was a teen was a 1965 Honda S-90. Big frame, little motor. Fun bike. Wish I'd kept it. It;s an antique now.

yes it is. It's funny watching people get on it for the first time. They always have a puzzled look on thier face.
