First thing I would do is check your coolant level. Not just the tank but the radiator as well. If it's low, you may have a leak somewhere.

Also, did you recently have your cooling system flushed or anything? There could also be an air pocket in the system if done incorrectly.

Sounds like a bad thermostat.

Bad thermostat would show that his car is running "hot"

I lean more towards the fact that you have air in your coolant lines. You will exibit these symptoms until the air is bled out of the system.

How many miles on the car? Was the coolant recently flushed?

Not if its stuck open. Then it would take a really long time for the car to warm up. As the car speeds up, it is creating more heat which would generate more heat through the heating system. But sitting at idle, the car is not making much heat, especially if the thermostat is stuck open and the coolant is running through the radiator when the car is cold.

Hmm... Maybe i misinterpreted this. I thought the engine was warm but the air wasn't.

Maybe the engine isn't getting warm?? If the engine isn't getting warm then I concur that the problem is a thermostat stuck open.

You did not mention if your engine is operating at temperature? If so then you may have a plugged heater core. Before you panic if that is the case you may get away with backflushing the heater. Another possibility that I am not sure if it exists is a malfunctioning temperature control valve. On some of my previous cars water flow was through the radiator if the thermostat was open, through the heater if the temperature control valve is open, or bypassing both flowing only through the engine.

Like I said, not sure if this even exists on the Gs.
