so i have a grip of parts layin everywhere and i got bored the other day n decided to mod the epicfAiL ebay projectors to see if i could make them........i dunno...useable. this is what i got so far.

i figured the biggest flaw in these headlights "projectors" were the lack of housings, a shroud, shields, reflection, and HID. Theyre pretty much putting a lens in front of a light and calling it a "projector". That's like putting a windshield in front of you and calling it a car. s*** just aint true.

PS: For new(-er) people.......dont buy "ebay" branded parts. Save yourself the embarassment.

This is what I started with

Fixing the housing issue

Then I chopped it to fit into the headlight housing

As for the reflection issue, the can has to be bent a little to fit, so the inside was reflecting light incorrectly, so i masking taped the inside of the can, then layed out some aluminum foil, and backed it with masking tape to make it sturdy so it would not bend or crumble. Then i flattened it and taped it to the indise of the can. Now you have the reflective property.

Still working on the shields. Tried a few things but they dont work too well.

Here is the improvement in light output a brain, soda can, and masking tape can have.

(The light used in the pictures is from my LG cell phone. That small of a light. Just keep that in mind)

Light Only

Light + Projector Lens Only (this is what the ebay lights look like)

Light + Projector Lens + My ni.....jimmy rig housings

Light + Projector Lens + My Housings + The Reflective Foil

Here's a pic of it just sitting in the housing

Imagephone is visible in this pic. im not bullshittin

STILL NEED:

cutoff (ive almost got the shields figured out)

shrouds (i havent found one that looks like it didnt come off a honda show car)

lenses for the 7x6 housing (i just broke mine. dont havde a heat gun and f*** the oven)

I mean i did this s*** with stuff everyone has laying around their house for free. Cant really beat that. What ya think?

Looks pretty dang good for what it is. Do you have HID's? I'd like to see what the beam looks like with HIDs in there. The light pictures that you posted make the light coverage look crappy, but I'm assuming you used a flashlight or something

that light is from the flash on my cell phone camera. im planning on running hid's but for now i have some h4 bulbs im gonna pop em in and see what kinda light they produce. as for the cutoff, that will all be adjusted when i figure out which bulbs im gonna use, and find shields that work properly and arent too visible through the lens. this is still a work in progress i just posted what i had cuz it looked pretty legit imo.

The project looks good so far. I'm anxious to see the cutoff.

Too bad the lights themselves look terrible from the outside. :/

yeah im going to cover most of it with a shroud, just have to pick one. and yeah the cutoff is my main concern. once i decide the bulb and shroud ill be able to adjust fire and dial in some shields that work properly. i refuse to rock lights that blind drivers in a different zipcode. ill leave that to honda owners. and god knows there are too many of them.

If you're willing to spend some money, go but some projector fog lights from autozone. The "blazer" "super white" one. It has a cut off line that is removable and probably a bunch of other stuff you can use for this project.

is it just me or are their alot of pics missing here???

I want to see what the light looked like before and after this little mod when they're installed in the car with the headlights on.... You know like in my ebay headlight mod thread where I pointed the car at a white wall with the headlights on to show the way the light beam hit and how even they lit up and the ever so important cut off.

Cause you know that the H4 style bulbs that your ebay lights came with have a cut off built into them already (low beam only) and they reflect the light off the back of the housing to shine it out the lense. (or projector in your case) So I'm very courious to see how they will do that in a home made housing and how that worked out with the projector before hand.

Way to use your imagination, thinking outside the box. But I can guarantee that tape will melt, and most likely cause a fire. H4 bulbs burn pretty damn hot, so be careful my friend. I was thinking a thin walled chrome pipe, would be optimal. Good job regardless.

I feel ya bro. I wrecked pretty bad last year. I felt like I could fix it, but my mom wouldn't let me take the car back. So I had to move on.

Hey, if ya can find a cheap shell that's in good condish, you could swap everything over in a week. Shouldn't be too bad. Honestly, the damage doesn't look like it hit the frame so it should be fixable.

f*** man wtf... You can fix it though. It didn't damage the shell. Just the front end. You already have a hood so your already half way there.... You need fenders a bumber, headlight housings etc and you need to pull the core support back out and get a new bumper support as well.

Post up some pics of what it looks like w/o fenders or hood or bumper. Then I can tell you how screwed, or not, you are.

Not gonna lie its a lot of work and will still cost ya around 1,000 bucks and that's doing it all yourself and it'll never line up perfectly again. ... But look at the alternatives.... 4,000 + to have it fixed professionally, or no more 240.

I only wish I had such clean dent free rear qp's and doors with such nice paint. Our cars used to be twins... I've done the same to my car 3 times in 3 different ways now BTW. Not that hard to fix really. Yours is slightly worse than mines ever been though.

BTW what kind of seats are those?? They're perfect. I might buy em from ya if your close enough to me.
