I really want to go with an SR20 eventually but I want my car running now. I need it for transportation. Do I fix the problem with my engine now? Or should I just get another KA 24 motor?

See how much a mechine shop will charge you to fix the head, then go see how much you can find a used motor for. If theres not that much in price difference then get another motor that way you can rebuild one whilel the other is in the car. So you will always have a back up. And who knows you might just want to go kat.

idIf I was in your situation I would feel like god was telling me to go KAT...It seems to have a better "lay away" plan since you can just build it up piece by piece as budget allows...It it would only be slightly more to buy a newer KA that might be a reasonably good plan.

But what happened to the head? If it didnt damage the rest of the block why not just buy a used one? gotta be cheaper then a whole new engine and if you dont need a whole new engine...

Where is the best place to get a KA? And an SR20? Also, what price do you feel is a good buy?

KA, check our nissan parts threads and check around locally. Plenty of people doing SR swaps and selling KA's cheaply. Prices for SR's have been going up lately and quality been going down so you might want to think twice about it. Check the SR forums to see where people are getting good engines from.

I would buy a used KA throw that in then slowly work on ur old one and make it turbo cheehee =) lol

Actually if i had money i would buy a sr but no more so i would just see which way is cheaper replace or fix.
