I know technology is very advance these days but to have only warning lights in my console makes me uneasy. I want an Oil Pressure gauge, Temperature Gauge and why the hell not! a Volt gauge like I had in all my previous cars.

Have a great day every body.

There are two main reasons why you don't get a full compliment of gauges on many cars nowadays.

1# Space. There simply isn't enough room on many dash lay-outs. With double din head units, nav., etc, it's harder to fit them.

2# Cost. A simple warning light is cheaper than a gauge. Many items would be nice to have in a car, but the manufacturers opt not to add them to keep costs (and prices) lower.

I agree with you in that it'd be nice to have, but the manufacturer would rather have you go to the dealer for a CEL than have you debug the problem yourself.

You can add them yourself. They fairly easy to integrate and the pocket in the center of the dash will hold up to 3 small gauges. Radio Shack sells an LCD DC volt meter that is very easy to install and inexpensive. The oil P and H20 T are only as far as your local Pep Boys. Step up and do it yourself. Don't forget to take pictures and post the DIY when you're done.

Than buy a General Motors car, as they not only have 'em... they need 'em!

I am not a gearhead but I do like to be aware of everything that is going on with the basic operations of an automobile. In my humble opinion gauges can save you from serious damage to the engine better then any warning light. Plus, they make the dash console look kick *** just like a jet fighter.

Did anyone ever drive an Isuzu Impulse??? the dashboard would light up like a Xmas tree with gauges. It was awesome.

In a lot of cases a stock gauge may not be accurate anyway (S-chassis temp guages for example). So I'm ok with just a light. Shouldn't be doing anything to this car to warrant anything crazy anyway.

First off, I know this is a Nissan forum but no need to bash GM, especially considering most of their drivetrains are bulletproof.

Also, a lot of the gauges on current cars aren't actual gauges but rather dummy lights in disguise; I know many oil pressure and temp gauges are just on/off and don't display actual temp or pressure, but rather whether it's within tolerances or not.

Oh man that is just the ticket, but I was checking out the models this piece of equipment supports and it is not compatible with Versa. However it is just what I would need.

It will work.

"2007 - WORKS ON ALL EXCEPT: Lotus Elise

Jeep Liberty with the diesel engine does not report fuel use or trip functions and some of the gauges."

So it will wok on all 2007 vehicles except Lotus Elise.
