I figure I'd do something sorta constructive for the forum and post up where I placed my gps as another possibility for those that are pondering where to hide their GPS away from prying thiefs.

I think this is the best spot for ME without having to take the gps off and on constantly.

I used a female accessory socket and tapped the accessory plug behind the a/c panel. This quick splice http://www.oreillyauto.com/sit...plice is a god send so no soldering is involved.

Power is looped up behind the steering column, I had to use a wire snake to snake it up and into the corner, so the side panel would close properly.

Mounted using a permanent adhesive disk and suction cup. those I might switch to one of those fancier dash mount that garmin made w/o the suction cup.

And finally

This is the outside shot, I thik this is would be hard to spot for thief if they were going through a parking lot looking for GPS mounted on the mirror. Most of the time my sunshade is up so it would be hard pressed to see it.

Very nice, igg.

I use a RAM universal finger grip mount in approx. the same location, but suction cupped to the windshield. It holds my Magellan Meridian hiking GPS or Blackberry.

This isn't the exact setup I have, but shows how it's used:

Nice thing about the RAM mount system, is it's completely modular. There are hundreds of mounting methods, extension arms, cradles, etc. And it's all heavy duty stuff... it'll last a lifetime.
