My G35 turned off doing 70Mph????

i was on the highway oh thursday night i am trying to merge on the freeway and i floor it i hit about 70-80MPh then i put it in neutral and then the steering got hard and i noticed that the car had turned off is this something that could be a serious issue??

I'd RUN, not walk, to a dealer ASAP.

Not that the G35 has had this problem, but I believe some early altima's were recalled due to some part failing and causing shutdown. It could be an isolated incident of the same type of part or something like it. But eitherway, I'd get the car to a dealer as well.

lol. yea i went to the dealer and the said it was normal i was like WTF??? but i guess its okay i dont understand how is a safey thing but oh well.

I tend to agree with you; It seems dangerous to shut down the engine at that speed. The only thing I can think of is at that speed, the power assist steering would malfunction, posing a threat to the driver.

I tend to agree with you; It seems dangerous to shut down the engine at that speed. The only thing I can think of is at that speed, the power assist steering would malfunction, posing a threat to the driver.

As I understand his original post, his is an AT and he put the car in neutral, thus it's a safety feature to prevent over-revving ot "blowing the engine"

i was on an on ramp too so i noticed that the steering was hard but i was stil able to make the full turn. i thought the power steering belt had broken cuz i had just replaced it a few hours ago.

Ok im confused now... so is it normal or not cuz ill go back to the dealer and be like WTF?? i was in 3rd gear going to 4th when it turned off i was trying to slow down cuz theres was a car in front and i put it in neutral then it shut off.
