Ever since I brought my G35X home last year my wife has been a little jealous of the features / toys that it has. So yesterday we went out and traded her perfectly fine '05 Pathfinder, with 22K miles, in on an '08 Acura MDX with the Tech and Entertainment packages.

I'm actually very impressed with the features on the MDX and wish that the G35 had a few of them - like on the navigation where you can say 'find nearest Italian restaurant' or the fact that it has a surround sound system. But the G is still faster

Anyone else have their G cost them some money to make the significant other happy?

Obligatory pictures to follow. (It's going back in on Wed next week to get the chrome side steps, roof rack, front window tint, and clear bra installed).

And my G:

My wife likes basic cars. We were looking at a nice Bimmer, but she is happy with her Honda Accord. I was like WTF??? She said she wants to keep the Accord, and maybe look at getting a new Jeep Wrangler... I gave up at that point.

There are some smoking deals on 2008 Lexus RX350's right now in Phoenix ($35k for sticker $44k). We test drove one last Wednesday but the wife wants to keep her Sequoia.

We drove the MDX several times before we bought the Seqouia but the 07 MDX did not have enough hp for her, I know your 08 is completely different. The Seqouia was the same price with the same options and seated one more person very comfortably.

My office has 8 people in it right now. When we all go out for lunch I bring the Seqouia.

spacy9, are those the stock wheels CHROMED on your G? Where did you find them or did you have it done?

They must be trying to give the Lexus vehicles away right now. We were looking at the GX470 as well and they gave us 5K off without even blinking an eye - hadn't even started to haggle. We would have looked at the RX350 but she needs the 3rd row - we only have two daughters but it seems like we always have 4 kids at the house if not more...

The MDX has 300hp, the Lexus GX470 only had 263, and with the SH-AWD the MDX takes the corners very well - it's actually pretty fun to drive and doesn't feel like an SUV at all

Actually they are Zinik Z18 Minardi 20" wheels. I did get them because they were close to the factory wheel pattern, it made for a nice subtle change:

Nothing like owning 2 gas guzzlers- eh??? We also have an MDX and it gets about 17-19 city and 23-26 highway. Decent power, excellent engine and car that's likely superior to the G (except in ride) mechanically.

Enjoy your 50K G!

+1, that is the first aftermarket wheel that I've seen that I could go for. I think the chrome does the G justice. Nice job, nice G spacy9.

Those wheels plus the front end on the G in Red Det's sig would make an unbeatable ride.

Oh, the Acura is nice too...

The 09 Lexus's come out this month so the 08's are on sale!

Our Seqouia has 287 hp, when were were looking at the MDX it had 250 hp. I wish we would have waited and bought a 2008 Seqouia

Yea then you could of had the 381 HP Seqouia that does 0-60 in 6.1 sec!

Wouldn't that be funny... Jeff at the track in the seqouia!

I can see him doing hot laps now!

Getting 5 gallons to the mile!

Best of luck with the MDX... I Just personaly hate them but good luck lol

I would have gone with the GX470... Body on Frame! And an 7000lbs+ towing.. (I don't care what the sticker says! I had an 05 4runner with the 4.7 V8 The Gx's twin, and i would town a dump trailer with gravel that weighed over 8500lbs all day long with out any problem at all.)

But for the mom, well the MDX was probably the better choice!
