I'm a new owner of a 2003 g35 coupe with 74,000 miles and my batt light and bake light are on inside my dash. I got a new interstate battery and lights still on. I got a new aftermarket alternator and lights still on? I checked brake resivor and its full . There appears to be no overcharging or undercharging, car drives awsome! Anyone out here ever experience this problem? Where would a ground be to the alternator? Infiniti uses no grounds to the chassis. I'm confused help. :wtf2:

Did you check the charging voltage across the battery with a voltmeter? Should be around 14.4v if the alternator is functioning properly. 74k miles should not require an alternator. I traded in my 06 G35 with almost 172k miles on the original alternator.
With the battery light on and the brake light on it sounds like two separate issues.
Did you check the belts?
Did the troubles start immediately after the battery was replaced?
When i replaced the battery on my 06G35 the dealer price was very close to what others were charging and I had the dealer replace my battery.

The lights were already on when I bought the car. I know toyotas brake light come on whith the batt light when the alternator fails. I'm assuming infiniti wiring is very similar. I did a visual inspection of the belts and appear to be tight and no cracks. I agree the alternator shoulduv got more life out of it but its replaced and yes I ran a volt meeter and is about 15 on a full load draw if I remember right with (stereo A/c lights ect) car appears to have no draw or boiling off water in new batt. Car functions good so far. Might be a wiring problem as previous owner said it sat for a while.

Feel free to check out the FSM (link in my sig). Have you tried to reset the ECU?

No I have not tried to reset the ECM? how is this accomplished? I never thought of this procedure. Sounds like a dealer only and there is no dealer here in my town. What is a FSM in your link? I'm new to this discussion forum. Thanks

Factory Service Manual. FSM

The procedure for ECU reset is in the G FAQ page. Basically, you remove the battery power from the car, step on the brakes a few times, and reconnect the battery (please take necessary steps to prevent damage when you pull the power cables).

I performed the ecm reboot and I even tried the "quick ecm reboot " method by disconnecting the batt and pumping the breaks. This did not work to remove the brake and batt light inside my dash. What do you guys think about just removing the bulbs from the dash.. haha. Tempting. :chuckle:
