Here's some photos of my fully built CA18DET that been assembled now for some years, but I'm just too sorry to install it in anything. It has a gang of goodies and this puppy alone is worth a nice chunk of change.

This is the engine with the plastic protecting it. It just sits in the corner of my friends' shop along with a built 3TC.

You are viewing HKS cam gears and a host of new parts such as oil pump, water pump, crank sprocket, timing belt, all seals, etc, etc.

This is the ported and polished intake side of the head. You can also see the JUN 272 camshafts and if you pay close enough attention, you can see that attention to detail work on the head to ensure that massive lobes from the camshafts will clear the sides of the head.

This is the ported and polished exhaust side of the cylinder head as well as another view of the camshafts and the amount of machine work necessary to make these camshafts feel at home.

This is an overhead view of the entire assembly with the JUN camshafts clearly displayed as well as the extra machine work to make the lobes clear the sides of the heads.

Here's a perfect shot of the hall sensor bracket customized for to accomodate my SDS standalone.

Ladies and gents, realistic goals for this are plain and simple, I'll settle for 550whp which is whole lot in itself, but 600ish is where my desires forecast. Alot of money spent, but well and worth the research and effort.

Dee, that is a sweet and clean looking beast, when on earth are you gonna install it? Definitely wanna see it in action soon.

What kind of turbo are you gonna slap on that monster?

I just noticed the OEM oil cooler in the pics. Did it come on your motor because it was an automatic or something or did you get it from someone in Europe?

I would love to install the thing this year. It has been sitting around for years doing absolutely nothing. I'll be using a T3/T04E 60-1 blower for starters. The space in my car is limited and I can possibly put in a bigger blower, but as of now one is not in my sights.

All the AWD variants came with the oil cooler. I've always had them on every JDM CA18DET I've ever owned, even the stock automatic RWD unit in my g/f's sentra.

That turbo is a good turbo to choose, but wouldnt there be a better choice? Perhaps a sc61 which is almost the same thing, but uses a t350 exhuast whheel ina .63 housing. Its should outflow the t61 fitted t3/t04e. ID go with a BB unit as well for that kind of power. You should want a better response than that t3/t04e turbo can offer. especially with a 1.8l displacement.BTW--nicely done motor. Hopefully, your tuning abilities are outstanding. 600 WHP is alot to aim for--good luck!

I agree with the ballbearing turbo, but right now, it's just not practical. The turbo I have originally for this motor is somewhat tricked-out in the fact that it's a little bit more than what I actually know it is. It has been back to my turbo builder and we've been experimenting with turbos for the CA for quite sometime.

As for tuning, it is what is. I've never blown an engine because of it coming up short on fuel or have over advanced the timing, so it would be safe to say that I'm just fine for now. 600whp is a lot to aim for from such a small motor, but I'm pretty sure I'll get a kick out of trying.

272 degree with a 10.5mm lift for both intake and exhaust camshafts.

Ok man thanks, but why not stick to the 264? Saw one of our members list some comparisons with the 256, 264 and 272, and even though it was compared when on the Supra - arent you going to have similiar results with better results coming from the 264's?

not for 9 grand and high end HP. the 272's are better suited for a high HP goal like what hes going for. The 264's would yeild *slightly*better powerband, but not by much. The cam gears he has can be used to tune the cams to offer as good a powerband as possible.

$20 bucks + your testicles + your 1st borne . I think this is a very fair deal.

how about just one of them? losing both my balls at the same time would suck.. but the 20 bucks and my first born sounds like a sweet deal to me.

That's my final offer. I need both balls, the 1st born and $20 or no expensive motor for you. Motor also comes with timing belt cover that allows you full access to the cam gears without leaving the cam gears wide open for dust and debris. This could be you with that motor.

put it in an r32 GTS-t. then you'll be able to get all the testicles you want.

I'll play with some sludge and see if i can't grow a few more...
