SO ever since taking my statistics class at college (Human Bio requirement) I have decided to use my knowledge for the betterment of humankind and analyze what I can about my life.

In doing so, I have created a fairly in-depth analysis of my gas mileage, my price per gallon, miles per day, miles per week, average fill-up interval, etc. Mind you, probably geeky statisticians out there, that I am just using averages and then computing the expected range by doing 3 standard deviations to the left and right. Therefore, you technically need at least 30 pieces of data that constitute at least the semblance of a normal distribution to be completely accurate, with completely accurate falling within a 5% margin of error/95% confidence interval.

Anyways, here is my current data. This covers from May 18, 2007 until now. Too bad I didn't start this when I got my car back in October 2006.

Ehh... Cool...?

Lol, jk. I was a tad bit lost in your description, but I just checked the link and got what you meant. It was a good break down. Make youe realize how much goes into gas and what not.

Welcome to the forums btw!

I've been doing something like this too. I haven't plotted the price per gallon or intervals, but I still have all of the receipts from when I filled up, so I guess I could do it.

It's nice to see another stat geek out there.

pull- any plans to incorporate repair prices into the price per mile as well? It would be interesting to see if the Versa comes in under/over the federal price per mile we can take as a standard deduction on business taxes.

I'm tracking every penny I put into my V but I've only had the car three weeks; no repairs or maintenance such as oil changes yet.

Havent thought about that BUT it does seem to be a good idea. I will have to work on incorporating that.

I guess it depends on what gets worked into the deal. My cost overall is going to be less I think because I was able to swing free oil changes for life as long as I do the major services with the dealer at their scheduled intervals.
