O.K. so here is a new update on this project as well. I just so happens that another 240 guy that just joined our little 240 crew is getting an SR sometime this week donated a ton of parts that we needed including a ported-to-gasket intake manifold, brand new ported head, brand new timing chain and tensioners, brand new Accel plug wires, top timing chain cover and tons of other little brand new Nissan nick knacks including a really nicely painted black valve cover. Hell I even came out with a brand new Nissan intake filter. LOL. Why did Gabe donate the stuff? Well his bottom end blew up because after all his engine work he did not buy brand new rod bearing while building up his motor from scratch. Why he didn’t replace them? To this day he doesn’t know. So on Saturday 02/14/03 we went out to World Car Nissan here in S.A. and started to strip his motor of everything we could. What was bought was a complete Nissan gasket set, numerous cans of carb. cleaner, OEM cleaner, piston rings, rod bearings, and sealer.
Here we are starting off the day taking out this 92’ KA24DE swapped into an 89’ 240.[IMG]

It ended up taking the whole day to take and strip the motor because the head studs were being a ***** with us. But all in all we have tons of extra parts and nuts and do-dads.
The next day 01/22/04 we start working on the car bright and early in the morning. I got started by cleaning up the pistons we had.Next was actually putting on the piston rings and rod bearingsNext was time to drop in the pistonsSmall JDM pose while working. The guy on the right is Manny otherwise known as 912.0turbo. The guy on the left is Carlos, the owner of this project. The guy underneath the car is Carlos’ dad that has worked for Nissan for some time.We came across a problem with the .50-rod bearings so we had to stop for a while and order new OEM spec bearings because the crankshaft wouldn’t turn. What we ended up doing was putting on the lower and upper intake manifolds since we couldn’t do anything with the bottom end.
We stopped. That was the end of the day and it was beyond cold. So Monday 02/23/04 is when they had to pick up where we left off. I say they because I had to work that day. The new rod bearings were fine and everything went smoothly. The only problem was that the intake manifold was ported to gasket size so the gaskets were giving a little problem. By the time I got off from work and headed over there the head, intake manifold and vacuums were pretty much all done. The only thing left was timing. Now the real issue at hand.
Here is the upper intake, head and timing chain on.Timing chain.
The timing is off. 180 degrees off. We all were tired. It was midnight and we just wanted to go home. This is where we left it. Any and all comments/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
