my friend wants to know why is 93 altima automatic trans starts back up on its own while he is coasting it in netural to a stop..

It's like this...... my friend will put the car in neutral and shut the engine off and coast down a hill to a stop.... but it'll start back up on its own, and ping.

what will do that?

I had two altima's in my pass life time and they never did that, so i told him i dont know..

what will cause it? broken, or loosen disturobor connector?

Why are you shifting an automatic into nuetral and then coasting to a stop? Just leave it in D and go.

ok well spend the extra $1.80 per tank it takes to keep the car in D or take it to a shop and let them troubleshoot the problem and rip you off for thousands of dollars. Sounds like an intermittant problem that will never really be narrowed to down a specific part. This sounds like the problem could be in a number of places. The fuel system, belts, throttle body, idle sensors, transmission... the list goes on and on
