I finally decided upon which fog light kit I liked and I went with the Autopia kit from ebay, ive seen some pics and the install looks clean and it comes with all the wiring, and the relay... and as per the product page it says that its weatherproof too...

I'll be getting them this week and am going to throw them in this weekend, I'll let you all know how it goes.

it doesnt seem like it as per their site, they have all the wireing you need, including the relay, all you would really need to do is run the wires, plug them in and your set.

i plan on installing them so they are on with my parking lights. ie. all the time basically

so we'll see how it is, they site says just plug and play, ill definately keep you posted.

Well, I was bored so I figured I’d write a little tutorial/review of these lights. First off, thanks to c5neb for showing me these in his thread..

zerothread?id=240191

He has some more info in there if there is anything I missed.

This is a picture of the kit lying on the bed. Note that the extra pair of bulbs and the brackets are not shown. The wiring kit looks good. The wires between the fogs are weatherproofed, with crimp on connectors (One round, one spade, so if your color blind, you still can’t mess up the install). That said, the lights are plugged in using pre-crimped on connectors, which are also weatherproofed.

Where I was stumped was the changing of the bulbs. It comes with a pair of “white” and pair of “blue.” The “white ones” seemed to be more on the yellowish stock headlight color, and the blue seemed to be on the whiter side. To change the bulbs, you need to unscrew the 4 circled screws:

Note that I already took off the mounting bracket, and had the bulb installed already. The blue wire is because I bought a set of Phillips Clearvision Ultra’s because I ruined my “blue bulbs” putting them in.

Now… DON’T LOOSE THE CLEAR RUBBER PIECE…

Pull the white wire through the grommet, don’t pull too hard or you’ll rip the wire. But push/pull it through and then remove the bulb (you’ll need to take off a metal retainer clip, but its very easy and self explanatory)

Now, do the exact opposite, put the bulb in, replace the clip, and push the spade through. This one will be really tough… I used needle nose pliers to push it through, this will take some muscle, but it will come through and be manageable, just be careful again not to rip the wire.MAKE SURE THE BULB GOES THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE RUBBER RING, or else you won’t be able to put it back on right, and you’ll need to take the clip and bulb out.

Once that’s done, line up the rubber ring to the screw holes, and compress the back and pull the wires so the backing is as close as you can get it, screw the screws back in and make sure none of the rubber is protruding (it’s what makes it waterproof)

INSTALL TOMORROW

yeah i got them in tonight, but forgot my camera when i went to my friends =\

i can take some pics of how i wired it tomorrow... it was too dark, but i do have pics of the actual lights...

They look good... except, i allowed my friend to cut the fog blanks, bad idea, so im going to be in the market for some, either Finished (on the models with fogs) or just the blanks... so lemme know, im looking into versa speed but i dont have $30 at the moment =\

Ill get more pics tomorrow... whatcha think?

For those of you who may be wondering, I installed mine on April 4, 2007 and use them daily. No issue so far!!! However, the switch that they give you is the weak point in my opinion. I replaced mine within a week. Since I always use the fogs when the lights are on, I would eliminate the switch if I did it again.

Give us some close-ups of your installation!!

I was told by a Nissan parts guy that the V is prewired for fogs (and that there is no such thing as OEMs . . . he pointed me to a local place for decents.

Prewired but not prewired? Or . . . ?

The SL is pre-wired but the S is not. As far as OEM's, the info that your dealer gave you is not correct. There are in fact OEM fog lamps that are made by Nissan. You can buy the entire kit at the parts counter, or you can order them from http://www.versaspeed.com. I would recommend using versa speed; you'll get a better price and Bob really knows what he's doing.

If you'd like to use the factory wiring but aftermarket fogs, you just need to purchase the factory switch. That's what I did for mine. Check out my how to here:

Dealer parts counter guy told me the big story about no OEM fogs, and a whole schmeel about how they work around -- at cost.

versaspeed- here I come! [later in the spring]

nice to see I can get sport sills too -- that's first on my list.

Sure its a sedan . . . but sportier is nicer!

Continuing the conversation . . .

sills are not available from Nissan Canada, so it is definitely versaspeed.

Interestingly enough, because I called a different dealership about the sills (I've decided I simply will not go back to Walkley) I asked about the fogs . . . was told a kit was indeed available, and it is cheaper than at versaspeed (improved CDN $, perhaps?). I'll see . . . but it will avoid the hassles at the border!

hey guys, sorry for the delay, ive been really busy this weekend.

General overview of the install, and ill be the first to admit i need a couple more wire ties =p ha

This shows the ground connection and the splice to the running lights, i still need to solder it... DO NOT use those splice connectors...

http://www.jamestowndistributo...2.jpg

those... they dont work, i almost gave up because the lights wouldnt go on but i tried without it, cutting away the insulation enough and it works fine...

This is the relay mounted on the screw holding up that flat black and white box kinda thing, that is behind the battery (towards the firewall) and against the driver wheel well.

Power connection with the battery cover cut slightly so it will close all the way

With cover closed

Driver side effed up finisher

Passenger side effed up finisher.

Thats it... im going to go back and wrap up all the connections a little more just for security.... comments (good or bad) and all that...

Looks much better. I just hate to see hack job wiring, especially on a new vehicle. Those earlier shots had me worried, but I am glad you cleaned it up. Now replace the finishers as $$$ allow and you will be set.

Id pick up some black wire loom and cover it all up. That way it looks 100% stock.

lol yeah, i had originally done it at like 9pm, it was late, it was dark... the heater in the garage ran out of propane. i was ready to go. haha. but yeah i neatend it up, i might take the cord off of the power, run it behind the vertical pipe that it runs infront of now, and then back onto the battery... i may do wire loom later. lol im tight on cash.

Bob from versaspeed is REALLY helping me out so ill be getting it done much sooner then i thought =]]

thanks bob!

Ya, Bob is the man . . . patient as can be (I mean, how many e-mails from the same guy on the same topic asking the same questions can one guy take? Lots, it seems).

Definitely worth going through versaspeed. I'm sure there's a thread for pointing out his greatness somewhere, but I ain't gonna search for it -- I'll jsut say that his prices sure put the dealership's to shame -- the parts I'm after are double or more from the CDN dealership as compared with his -- and he doesn't talk down to me or make me feel like I'm inconveniencing him (though I must be).

There is a tutorial on a site, http://www.nissanversa.org you may want to check it out to see how that guy did it, because it looks clean, not good when you have all kinds of wires all over the place.

yeah i know, i used a bunch of different tutorials to do it. My wires stand out more because....

a) i wired them directly, no switch at all... so when my parking lights are on, my fogs are on (all the time basically)

b) theyre bright colors that stand out from the black engine bay... bright red and white... can't contrast much more. haha but ill look into wire loom, just short on $ like stated before =\
