Hm. Interesting. I've always seen little round transistors, lol. Good research. Do you mind if this makes it into an article in the tech section? This is some really good info.

Not at all! Once I am finished, I can compile it all into one thread and repost it so you could sticky that. Also, reason for not replacing all the transistors to prevent further failure now is because they are so dang expensive. I found some on Ebay, for a packet of 3 for $20 shipped. I looked else where, and the prices were around $7 a piece. I didn't go to Radio Shack for this piece because I'm assuming that something like this isn't there, and on their website it didn't show up. It also would take a long time for me to replace all of them since I'm not a "pro" at soldering. I also was able to get the front center speaker in and it works good! I have on of the rear speakers done, and I'm still working on the others...

Here is a link to some of the MOSFETs...

As you can see, not the cheapest, but better than replacing the $150 amp board.

Well I tried out both of the rear speakers, and neither of them work, but there is large improvement. Instead of extreme high pitch squealing, it's just a low drone with the pitch of the music playing. So it looks like all of the capacitors will need to be replaced. All the other ones are small, and I counted six 1uf capacitors, and two 47uf capacitors. I'm just going to order 30 1uf caps, and 10 47uf caps. It will be a pain to replace all of the small ones, but better than paying for it to be done. More updates to come....

Check the caps with a multimeter so you know their your problem. Don't just go replacing everything

This guy with the Bose in his Maxima had the same problem as well, and replaced all of the caps, and not just the two I've replaced. As he said, the caps in the old Bose amp boards are KNOWN to go bad no matter what. I ordered the rest of the caps, as well as the MOSFETs that need to be replaced. Better to do all the electrolytic caps while the boards are out instead of having to go back in for repair.

Still waiting on parts to come for repair on speakers. Also almost sold the car, but I decided not to yet. And on the way, I grabbed more interior pictures! Enjoy!

Haha, me too! It's immaculate. I also got all the components yesterday I need to finish the amps, so this whole week, when I have time, I will be working on them.

Well, long time and no update! Just a small one. I haven't had very much time to work on the Bose amps, but tonight I did! I ordered some more capacitors because I realized I needed a few different ones, and then I replaced the rest of the small capacitors, and it works! It sounds very good, now I just have to get the other three working! I will get a list of the capacitors I used, as well as how many per board. I also invested in a small needle nose pliar set, which is very handy.

Wow, awesome. Yeah, pics and MSPaint color code dots work wonders with write ups like these. When I get it converted to an article, PM me your info (address and shirt size) and we'll ship you some NICO schwag. Shirt or whatever Greg has laying around.

Thanks man! I will get a picture of a board and color code it showing which capacitors to replace and what is needed. More good news today again, I got the other rear one done, and both rear speakers installed! It sounds good! Woo-hoo. :) I think I will start the fronts in a bit, and once they are all done and installed I will do the write up. I will keep you guys posted. :mike

Wow! I am jealous. Very nice. 5k is a steal!! Good luck.

Please don't quote a mass amount of pictures. It makes for very hard thread loading for some people down the road. The pics are still in the OP.

5,000 for it? Wow, what a steal. You can easily double your money with this, and buy a nice Twin Turbo model instead
