Shortly after joining this forum and the SCVC I caught the mod bug. After reading everyone's posts and doing some research, I decided to get a cold air intake.

After more research I decided to get an AEM cold air intake. I was super stoked on the whole Dryflow filter thing.

My package arrived today!

Isn't it pretty?

Nice but I'm assuming you bought this during the time that the Fujita was on sale and a lot cheaper. I would have just gotten that one...

Actually I did consider the Fujita and the Injen cause it seemed like there were alot of people getting them and it was true the price was a bit cheaper. I had 2 issues that I couldn't ignore:

1) They come with a performance air filter that requires filter oil. I didn't want to deal with all the issues that come with cleaning and oiling the filter. The AEM filter just needs a soap, rinse and dry and it's good to go in 10 minutes. Way easy, no worries about whether I oiled the filter just right or not and it won't void my vehicle warranty.

2) I found a lawsuit judgement (http://209.85.173.104/search?q=cache:bI ... =firefox-a) To sum up the document for those who don't want to read it... It essentially says that Injen is suing Fujita for stealing technology from Injen that Injen stole in the first place.

That's all. I'll post pics when it's all installed too.

Odd. The instructions for cleaning the filter on my Fujita say nothing about oiling it...

oiling the filter is nothing, its in a spray bottle takes like 2 seconds. Kind of dumb that you'd spend more money on something cause you dont wanna 2 seconds to oil a filter.

OK here is the deal on Fujita and Injen, the guys who started Fujita use to work for Injen. The guys at Injen got pissed off so they decided to sue, they did not win the suit, because the Fujita product was not a direct copy of Injen thereby making it it's own product. How do I know this? The guys at Fujita used several of my vehicles for prototyping new products. I lived about 20 minutes from there shop and I talked with them all the time.

Key word here is first mod. I looked at all the companies cause I'm new to this and didn't know who all had one for the versa. I also didn't want to add to the list of "What intake should I get" threads when I could just read all the others and do a little google work.

Guess I should have given a longer answer.

Intake goes on today!

dont mean to jack your thread, but I have three questions

1) How often should I clean my fujita CAI filter/2) How do I do it? 3) AND(I think it was already answered, but just to make sure) does it need to be oiled?

I appreciate the info

clean your air filter every couple of months or so... or before any long road trips... clean with warm soapy water, let it air dry, it will take a while to dry, so dont plan on going anywhere soon after you clean it... and NO OIL! it is a dry filter... any other questions?

Ya know, I would think the filter wouldn't need cleaning that often. It's in a pretty closed off spot compared to most other cars. Some people cut out the fog light hole to get air into it and yes that would make it dirty faster.

So here it is all installed. I've only got two tips to share.

1) When the instructions say disconnect battery, go one step further and remove it. You'll save yourself some time and have more room to work with.

2) Take the time to remove the fender/wheel well liner. You only have to remove it about half way but it means not having to jack the car up, remove a wheel or remove the bumper. Just one extra hand or two to hold a pipe or filter in place while you secure/tighten things up.

The car will get better mileage.

However, you may catch the lead foot bug.

Lead foot bug is in full effect. The gas mileage will improve as soon as I can figure out how to lighten up on the pedal.

Nice Pic! Always fun to look under someone else hood for a change...

I wonder if anyone knows what's in that big box with the black snap-on lid that the pipe now covers?

Inquiring minds want to know..
