Do you have firsthand experience with these coilovers? How do you know they're so horrible?Razi wrote:And keep using horrible coilovers?
No thank you.
This is how we knowRazi wrote:you get what you pay for.
Hoffman5982 wrote:Where the hell are you getting a $1k price tag for Megans?? Megan Coilovers are the cheapest I'd go on coilovers. You just cut a huge corner, and one day soon you'll realize why that isn't a smart idea. As a broke highschool student(at the time) who almost made the same mistake, I save up another 2 paychecks and bought a decent set for $1200. There's really no excuse to being that cheap. Like Badbob said, You've had no other experience with other brands of coilvoers, and you haven't had them on long enough to give a true review on them. Come back in a year and tell us what you ended up replacing them with after they crapped out on you

Your MDU coils are ISIS, Godspeed, etc.
It doesn't work, that's the problem.Morph wrote:Thats been around for a while. Oh its not HKS,TiAL /JDM TYTE it sucks. My opinion if it works and works well who effing cares what sicker is on it.

And the difference isn't the sticker on the coilovers.
LoserCard wrote:Hey it's nice seeing success stories from these cheap brand coilovers since not everyone is super rich and can afford to put nice coils that cost as much as their car. =P Hey could you do a follow up thread maybe 10k miles or 2-3 months down the road?
alms24sebring wrote:OK calm down everybody. The point is that when dealing with these parts, "you get what you pay for" matters and stands true.
So when I first starting buying aftermarket parts, I bought KSport coils for my 240. They were $850 shipped. But, Im mad at myself because I didnt do any research about the product I was buying. I wish I had saved an extra paycheck for atleast Megans. The ride is bouncy as hell even over the smallest bumps, the spindles unwind all the time no matter how tight I put them, sometimes they make a clunk noise, there were no instuctions on how to preset the springs because they weren't even set, and they started to rust after a few months. Ksports have pillowballl mounts, 32 way adjustable, and can be lowered like any coilover, but it doesnt make it a better part. Teflon and all that crap is probly a standard for all coils like when I read oil bottles "Lubricates engine, helps cool, and removes gunk".. dont all oils do that?
I rode in my old bosses SR'd S13 and he had good electronically controled Tiens worth like $2000. Now, Im not saying you need to spend that but it was something I could compare mine to. The ride was soooo great. Its was hard as they should be but not bouncy at all and really grabbed the road. He usually took the car to VIR to race and he they were worth the money.
All coils look the same but they are not. They are build differently with different metals and different manufacturer procedures. Higher quality probly use steel or other hard durable metals rather than cheaper aluminum. Internally, cheaper ones probly have cheaper rubber gaskets and are not precision made.
The point is that they will break and possibly cause a severe accident. Like I said at the start, cheapos are always a risk of hit or miss. Why buy 3 sets of coils in 5 years when you can buy a good pair ONCE for a few hundred dollars more, with a better ride and a longer warranty. I garantee if you could ride in a car with $1000 street Megans or Stances, it would be night and day. It reminds me of the wiper blade thread. Why buy cheap walmart blades 4 times a year when you can buy good ones ONCE for $10 more, that last a year (Sil-blades last a few years)
And Razi btw, they are $300 for the coils themselves and $220 for shipping.
