My first car was a single cam auto hatch, purchased for a whopping $950. A year later with no more than $100 into the car, someone offered me $2k for it so I took it. Bought a dual cam auto vert for $2k, put no more than $500 into that and traded it for this shell and motor. Needless to say, my fiance and I are stoked Image

You can kind of see my convertible in the back of this picture. The guy just really needed a running car. Definitely not exactly a fair trade, even with $500 on top Image

And since I'm too lazy to post the specs of the shell/motor myself... here's a copy/paste version from the guy's ad on craigslist. - rhd conversion - shaved bay - front end cut for tube front - Origin type II rear widebody. 50mm - 8 point cage professionally done by enjuku racing - trunk cut for fuel cell - 10 gallon fuel cell w/20ft of steel braided lines and AN fittings - PBM rear subframe risers - rhd brake booster - wingless trunk - password jdm trunk fasteners - legit rhd s13 uncut harness - automatic doors with rhd door panels - also have an s13 core support I'll throw in with it

The bads about shell: - no taillights. sold half and halfs - missing some window glass - no suspension

Pros of engine: redtop sr20det maybe 10xxx miles on it block bored 20 over decked tanked cp pistons eagle rods acl bearing crank balanced line honed 9:1 compression top hat oil pan

head. valve job, stock valves bc springs bc retainers bc cams new guides new seats greddy rocker arm stoppers new rocker arms megan racing exhaust manifold all steel braided turbo lines stock t25 turbo megan racing turbo elbow or o2 housing top hat intake manifold mazworx couplers koyo radiator hks bov greddy oil cap hks air filter

drivetrain spec stage 3 clutch fidanza flywheel steel braided clutch line new throw out bearing

Ok, that koyo radiator part is a lie. We didn't get that, but we did get everything else listed and a few other goodies. And I'm done now lol Fire away with your suggestions!!!

Most likely. We are just trying to figure out how we are going to make that work with tubbed wheel wells or if we will have to skip that part. We are ordering the tubs for Leon's car tonight (it comes with two tubs, cut each in half and you have enough to do both cars) and it just seems too convenient to do it now since the car is stripped down so much. Do you have a build thread btw? I like to see what everyone else is doing.

Image Thanks, it's already been a good learning experience for me. Ordered these from summit for my car and Leon's hatch. Looking forward to the day she drives.

if its a track car, i dont see why you couldnt just leave them open.

thanks for the info on the build threads. As far as the tubs go, we ordered them for Leon's street car and figured what the heck. May as well do mine with the left overs. Besides, we are on the fence for whether we will drive it on the road or not. You can get away with driving anything on the road in Florida

Yea are u gunna tube frame the front instead of using the stock core support that came with all the goodies? I've always wanted to do that but I don't know for sure if u can do that and the car still be DOT. Which means u might end up running into problems reg the car (unless u plan on making it a track car).......I think lol. Anyone got a solid answer? I'd sure like to know.Wish I could see the pics but they'r just not loading on my computer....waaack!

We are 99.99% sure we are going to do the tube front. There's no way this car is going to pass DOT. Like there's no way you'd be able to drive this car in California. In Florida, when you register a car, no one even goes out to look at it. No one would know if it had a cage or tube front or anything. As far as I understand it, it's nearly impossible to get one of these on the road legally without doing something shady... but that doesn't mean we won't try ;) Otherwise.... track car!!!!

Some updates :) Picked up some super cheesy fenders for $5 just so we could have it looking like a car. Put the old hood from Leon's hatch on. Got steering wheel on. Popped open the motor to see if everything from the ad was legitimate. Also, plasti-dipped her for now to avoid rust before we go to paint Image Image Image Image Image Image Image

Well, the power's been out for four hours now so I figured I'd do an update since being productive is out of the question. Got some very girly pedals that I'm in love with. Leon cleaned up the inside of the car. Going to pink plasti dip some racing stripes on her just for s*** and giggles before we put a legitimate paint job on it... Image Image Image Image Image

Also, some very exciting news on the motor. We looked up the part numbers on the cams and springs, and those parts alone cost what I have into the motor so good deal :) Part #s are BC0205-EX and 87097. Maybe will post pics and specs of those parts later. In the meantime, the power came back on so I'm going to enjoy that :D

Good things come to those who wait, something my dad tells me all the time. We did a lot of looking. I always had an ad up with my car for sale or trade, too. Then out of the blue the guy offered to trade me his shell for my car and we worked it out where I got his shell and motor lol Stock convertible shell for caged coupe shell, and ka24de auto for built sr20 5spd... this was a clear no brainer. Good luck, be patient and I'm sure something awesome will fall into your lap.

What I love about this project so far is that, since it's my car, I get to make all the decisions on what gets done. Gave some input on Leon's rocket bunny hatch, but it's just not the same when it's not your car. Soooo, I asked him to stitch weld as much of the car as would not be too much for a day's work. (Did I mention I love him???!!) Basically, I just want the car to be as responsive/stiff as possible. Here are the results of his first ever attempt stitch welding :D Image Image Image Image Image

Pics of my work on the back window to come. Pulled off all the tint with a razor blade... painfully slow process without a heat gun. Also, pics of my first attempt at tinting taillights to come haha Also also, stay tuned for pictures of the tie rod inner/outer ends we got :) So happy with how quickly this is coming along.

We got these last night. Tein inner and Megan outer tie rod arms. They seem pretty sturdy. Gonna get that in tonight so this thing actually steers Image Image
