right now I already bought a Xenon lip, Canadian DRL's, Injen intake, Tein lowering springs, Weapon R aluminum coolant reservoir......

mods to come:

- oem 180sx chuki sides skirts

- oem 180sx valences

- 16x8 Sportmax 002, black with a 3" polished lip (yea i know, played out), but they decent price and im saving for some Better ones.

- Tein coilovers ( my cuz gets hooked up so any ones I want, I get =) just have to figure out wich ones are best for me.

- HKS Hi-Power exhaust.

- Kouki tail lights.

As for the engine, gonna keep it pretty simple. I want a SR so no point in goin crazy on the engine.

Im pretty mucch gonna get all this within the next months...just have to get all my house things first...GOOD thing I dont have a gf lol, im going to spoil my only LOVE (My 240 =)

A RB20 is in my sights too...hmm??? IDk will choose one of them after extensive research on the 180sx black top, KA-T, and Rb20...wanna see which is better rev wise, power wise, torque wise, well you know

I think if you plan on a swap, you might as well just keep the motor stock. No point in spending a good chunk of change on DC sports headers.

Just worry about suspension I say. Or...don't SR. Turbo your KA!

dont get me the wrong the sr is a great motor but the ka is just as good if not better. the sr is good for drifting but ityour 240 will most like be a daily driver. a ka will probably be more reliable and definalty more cost efficient

i hate the headlights too i'm just waiting for a job before i spending money on the car....even though i don't like the kouki front on hatches it can look nice if done properly and carefully so good luck! and you should consider the s14 sr too for a motor...

turbo your ka. its the same price as getting an stock sr20 that you would still have to mod. KA-T = loads of fun

yea I know what you mean. but my ka already has 120k and I ain't rich lol... I can't turbo it and rebuild the engine. it just seems cheaper to go SR with less than 50k like I've seen most with. but I am fully aware of the ka-t potential. plus the SR has more parts available.

i turbo'd my ka with 120,000 on the clock do a compression check and if the numbers are 150+ then you'll be set for a low boost setup which would be reliable as any sr20 if you do your homework. If I were you I'd hold out on any n/a bolt ons like the DC headers and start saving up for the sr20 take off stuff like t-25's, FMIC kit, etc etc. Even with the stock sr20 parts, you'll make just as much power with a little more torque. Trust me, it will be cheaper to go ka-t especially with your goals. I just recently blew my 4th ring lands due to detonation(not the ka's fault) and guess what i'm doing? Doing and OEM rebuild with all new rings, gaskets and bearings and rebuilding my head...in the end i'll have a fresh, reliable ka-t with 300hp and not leaking a drop of oil for about 1400 bucks.

I should admit that I was really thinking about going sr20 after my ka-t was getting worn out at 140,000+ miles but a STOCK 170 whp s14 sr20det swap was gonna run me at least 3-3500 bucks. and if anything happened where i was forced to convert my car back to stock for smog or whatever..taking a turbo kit off is much easier than doing an engine full engine and wiring harness swap.

ka-t's are not high revving engines but they are torque monsters and pull like crazy. Driving a car with 270 whp and 230 torque will not feel the same as driving a car with 270 whp and 280 torque.

Some of the disadvantages of the ka-t is that power peaks and slightly begins to drop off at around 5200-5500 rpms so you dont get a really good linear power band like you would with the sr20det. This is mainly due to the half-counter weighted crankshaft. An ATI dampener, cams and a custom intake manifold will help the power peak at higher rpms.
