Hey guys hows it going. Just picked up my 92 coupe. I had a black 93 hatch with a sr20 coilovers etc. Cars was ok but never going to be a coupe. A guy traded his stock auto coupe for my hatch and 2100 cash. The coupe has pretty good paint no big dings or any dents. Inside is clean. Perfect door panels no cracks in the dash and other then the non worker heads up display iam 1000% happy with the trade. When i got it it had crappy side skirts wich i removed that day and a big ricerboy wing wich i also removed and put a new truck. For the outside until iget the silvia fround end iam going for the clean stock look. Iam planning on the ls2 swap with the 6sp. If any have ideas on what i should do for coil overs what you have used and liked and didnt like with all parts let me know i want to do this thing right.
Here is some pics of my old hatch and my new coupe.

yeah its spendy to do the ls2 swap thats kinda why i was asking for any advice like is it cost efective? bc after having the sr i know iam not going there again i would rather just turbo the ka. i would go with rb engin but the problem i found with sr or rb swaps is the parts like the lil things that break ie water pump thermo etc. arnt that easy to come by. soon money wont be a problem with...well every few months ill be geting good cash

no rust thank god under the car is pretty clean and same with the body the only lil rust spot is where the guy screwed the body kit to the body...wtf he did that beets me. but i got it sanded down and sprayed with white paint to prevent it from turning into a problem

IMHO, ditch the "Vader" front bumper on the coupe and get coilovers to get rid of the 4x4 stance.

go ls based not ls.
get a 5.3 from a wrecked chevy truck. stil alm, lightweight, with a little less power but big possibilities.
you can hot cam it and throw on some ls long tubes and call it a day. t56 you wont get around it will be kind of expensive. but the motor you can have had for around 700-1000 easy.

i like the input but the smallest ill go for with a v8 will be the 5.7 ls1 i like the lsx platform idk what the 5.3 is. is it full injected? and if i recall the truck engins are a lil to tall but i think thats due to the oil pan. i have to use a 05-06 gto oil pan for some mount kits or just by a special one bc d1 regs say you can notch or modify the crossmenber so sikky makes a kit where alot of the mounting problems are taking care of for 1700 wich is alot but time is money so it saves me alot of time....i ramble on sorry if that was a tangent

you would have to use the oil pan either way..... so it will fit. i promise. yeah its fuel injected also.....
its an ls based motor. you can throw the heads from the 5.7 for lower compression if you want and the cam and a fast intake. no one will be able to tell. i promise.
i dont know why your stuck on the 5.7 but your not only going to pay for displacement your going to pay for the name also, and that to me seems pointless. you can easily make as much and more power out of a 5.3 than a 5.7 and coming from personal experience a 5.7 ls1 is to much power. 1st and 2nd are useless. and up to 4th is useless in the rain. you need to tame it down a little.

go cheaper, it will be worth it in the long run, not only will you save money but you will be a tamer car and be able to keep it a lot cleaner.
just my .02 but if you stuck on the 5.7 you really dont know a lot about lsx motors and need to a lot more research before attempting this swap

how is going with that engin going to keep it cleaner? and i want to get the 6.0 not the 5.7 if i can. if you get the right wheels and tires on it that much power is ok to have. i have done alot of resurch man thats why i went with this swap and not a sr or rb or turbo ka. you get power in every gear and alot of it. but i will give you the benifit of the doubt and take a look into the 5.3 and let you know what i think.

less money spent on the motor = more money spent on smaller details.

i really know what im talking about i promise. your going to have a little over 300 hp stock with the 5.3 with headers which is a must on this install, and exhaust with intake and a tune your looking in the mid 300s. maybe around 330-340. its not just power we are talking about here man. your missing the point. i can 100% bet you wont be able to tell the difference of the motors if they were in the same car. its cheaper and a better route. but if you dont want to listen to people with experience thats your choice. im just trying to help you save a lot of money.

i dont understand why you want a bigger motor. an sr swap with 260 hp is enough in these cars. your talking about throwing a lot of power to the rear independent axle. and no im sorry but wheels and tires dont mean s*** when you start to wheel hop and snap an axle. there is a lot more work than motor wheels and tires. you can throw fatty tires on the back of irs and all you will do is snap axles. if you want some mean nasty power, throw a solid built axle and back half it.

well.........when your right your right man....i will got with the 5.3l i like it i did a lot of looking in to it. and i think that for a pratical car the 5.3 power out put will work jsut fine. i really am thankful for the input and if all else fails i can always up grade but i think for saving money this a good idea and will let you know how it comes thanks again :bowrofl:
