I am a 3D computer animation student at Rochester Institute of Technology. I graduate in August (yay). I deal mostly with character style animation, so I never really go into high detail models. This is my first attempt at a car. I picked this car to model before buying my 240, so you can tell it's been on my mind for a while.

Any feedback is appreciated. I still have a LOT of work left to do. As you can tell, there are still a lot of gaps in the body panels, no texturing, etc. Still looks pretty good I think for my first attempt ever. (and yes, I know the directional tires are going the wrong way. that will be fixed soon.)

Any comments?

That's pretty cool. What did you use to do that? I'd been messing around with Maya PE, but it turns out that my particular artistic vision...well, it sucks.

As you mentioned, fix the gaps in the panels so it doesn't look like a Saturn ;) and then get some textures on there. Should look great when you're done!

Yep, that was the other thing I was going to say that I forgot. I still need to mirror the rear bumper. That will be done soon too :) Thanks for the comments though.

It looks good, just work on the gaps. I used to use Rhino 3d in school, the first thing I drew was a 3000gt

I wish I could find the ferrari f-40 I did in highschool. I made it in autocad... a whole semester of work and it looked like I could have made it with lego's in a week.Clean up the seams a little bit and that model will be well on its way to looking seriously awesome.

Actually, I meant because of the big gaps. Every cheap *** plastic Saturn I've ever seen has body panels that don't quite fit. :)

The car itself looks good and once you get some textures on there and fix the body, it should look great.

Ah, gotcha :) That makes a little more sense.

I only have about 6 hours on this model, so it has plenty more to go.

Awesome Job. I love the tires especially. Just learn how to weld points for those body panels. I've done some 3D work also, self-trained in 3D Studio Max. Check out these links:

I started practicing on the Camaro because it's squarer than my '93 240sx, but soon I will start on it. I think I should get Maya as well. P.S. I didn't make that engine but damn I wish I had one.

Thanks for the comments. The engine will be "dropped in" later. :pface

Well I use Maya, and "weld" is a 3d Max term, but I get the picture :)

Like I said before, this car is not even close to being done. It has about 6 hours into it. It needs a lot of work still.

The Camaro looks pretty good. You might want to work on the textures a little. Get some reflections in there. There are a lot of good textures on sites like http://www.highend3d.com.
