Hi everyone! New to Nico forums and just got my first 300zx (not my first Nissan tho :bigthumb: )

I bought a 1990 300zx NA automatic with 98k miles on it for a decent price. The car runs and drives, but has some minor issues from age. As advertised by the seller, these are the issues:

1. rough idle/misfire
2. exhaust manifolds leak (both)
3. brakes need to be bled
4. transmission engages all gears but slips occassionaly

So I have some questions for you guys (the pros). I have done some research and homework searching through the forums, but I want some more specific answers.

First, the rough idle. I'm guessing this is a fuel injector problem (or spark plugs) because the injectors are the old style and have been running on gas with ethanol in it. My question is, can I wire in new style injector connectors to my existing harness or do I need a whole new harness if I want to use new style injectors?

Second, the exhaust manifold leaks. Is this an engine pull job? I know its damn tight in the engine bay so I'm assuming it's an engine pull job. How hard is it to get the stock manifolds off? I'm guessing the bolts are pretty rusted up and I'm worried about breaking them off in the head.

Third, the brakes. I've looked up the procedure for bleeding the brakes--- furthest caliper from the MC to the closest and then the ABS units. Do I need the cap on the MC on or off when bleeding? I thought it was cap off as long as the fluid stays full.

Finally, the transmission. Is it possible that the ATF fluid has never been flushed/changed and this is causing the slipping? I was going to try changing the fluid a couple times, but not sure which brand to use. Its Dexron III I believe?

Thanks guys and looking forward to your answers!! :)

Yes you can solder them into your old harness. You will need an adapter kit or the correct lower manifold+fuel rail to mount the newer style injectors though

ahhh ok I found an injector adapter kit from Z1 for about $125 that includes the new style connectors. Is there anything wrong with buying remanufactured injectors (new style) off ebay?

Ok so I figured out that I should pass an emissions inspection fine with high flow cats, as long as I don't delete the AIV system. I will be deleting the EGR system however.

I'm still worried about going to unbolt the stock exhaust manifolds from the engine when I pull it out. I fear that they will be rusted to hell and I really don't want to break any bolts off in the head

i would contact bernie at tt.net and see if he can help you out, he's a respected vendor, and often sells fuel injectors.
i also wouldn't buy remanufactured fuel injectors.
