I just got this decently clean 93 240sx fastback. Over all the body is in s*** shape, but the frame seems very solid. "main reason why I bought it"

The s*** thing is, its auto. I wish I could of found this kinda of frame with manual, but I've been looking for a awhile, and most of the frames were f***. The KA has about 229k on it, and it runs okay. the owner or the past owner did a transmission rebuilt or something like that from the looks of it.

I bought it from some older indian guy, and he wanted 2k for it. I got it for 1300. He said he took care of it, but he was just lying threw his teeth to make me buy it. He changed the battery and put on some winter tiers...Im in Canada...so its kinda hard to find a clean 240. The body is in s*** shape...the fender is falling off...the trunk wont close...the gas cap wont open, unless you dig your hand there and pull the switch.

Anyways, the only thing I want to know right now is the auto to manual swap. I seen a few forums about this, and there is a few videos on youtube. On the forums people were saying how its not as hard as people think it is..and it wont cost you $$$ (that much anyways) Im going to get a few quotes from some people soon and let you guys know how much it will be. Or if some of you know, please let me know.

Im going to do some cleaning up of the car on Saturday, mostly taking the seats off, carpet, some interior parts, ect. Also im going to sand down all the surface rust and spray it with rust proofing primer..then coat it with rust proof...so rust can just f*** off..haha..

I"ll take pics of before and after and see what you guys think. Please give me your honest opinion.

thanks.

Need PICS!!! Pics now!!!!

Welcome to Nico. Prices are very region specific, but i definatly wouldn't pay over 400 dollars for all the stuff needed for 5spd swap. Hit da junkyards man. Good luck with your car.

" More pics to come once I remove the seats and carpet. Let me know what you guys think of the frame. I sprayed it to prevent it from rusting while its sitting. Plan to take it to Rust check to put another coat.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, I'm new at this, so I don't want to do anything stupid. Not looking to making a ricer. Was thinking Vertex body kit and Advan RS wheels.

Way to much rust. I'd just start looking for a shell and swap everything over.

Wouldn't that cost me more then just repairing the body? The under body is mint...No holes on the frame or anywhere. I got hook ups for body repair.

Its all just surface rust..the underbody is strong...I banged everything with a hammer pretty hard and it stayed intact. Body rust I dont care for...just the frame and underbody. surprised noone has said anything about the frame haha...I guess the ugly body just throws them off.

The engine bay has about 3 rust spots overall. But I'm spot welding everything I can find, so it should be a solid shell.

Now I need some suggestions on the paint. and the look of the car overall.

I was thinking gloss black with a vertex body kit, coilovers, offset Adven RS wheels(dark gold)

Just worried about the vertex kit looking too ricey...But then again if I have the offset wheels...It wont look like the kit is too big for the car...

So kit or no kit? help?

Not to be a kill joy but... the shock towers are rotted good, I bet the exhaust side frame rail is to under the door. as well as the inner fender to frame rail on the exhaust manifold side. It's a good donor car, but that shell is pretty bad.

I dont think I would put anything into that
