my first 240 and rb,how did I do?

hey guys I'm new and just bought 2 240's the other day, one already has a rb20det swap with a load of extras,got both cars for 1500 bucks- the rb is turning over but won't fire and I just got it home,when I determine what I got i will get back to you guys. the other 240 has the dohc ka it runs but needs love.I have a 87 300zx with full poly bushing replacement and working on a vg30det swap but just thought I'd get a idea of how I did.Also whats best ka's, sr's, or rb's, as I said I'm new to the 240 world. :gotme

if you got 2 240s and a complete rb20 swap for 1500 you did great. lets see some pics! everyone has a differrent opinion on what engine is best, and you dotnt want that debate in this thread so i suggest you dont ask haha. welcome to Nico!

Was the rb20 running when you got it? try and give me some more info and ill see if i can point you in some directions to get it running again

i just got it friday, the guy I got it from said he did the swap it ran for about four miles and went dead--I have not even got to take a real good look at it since I got it home. The guy worked out of town and was having some family problems so the car just got neglected that was about 2 years ago.He did show me that it does turn over just doesn't fire up,we'll see.It has an aftermarket intake on it and upgraded turbo,he said the setup was running somewhere around 330hp,also has full 3 inch stainless exhaust,also pillar with gauges and an auto meter 5 inch tack, both cars have 17's also.

I'll try and take a closer look tomorrow and make sure I'm getting fire and fuel---then we'll go from there. But if I can get some pointers to get her running again that would be great. Did I mention he gave me a but load of parts like a ka turbo manifold, skyline headlights,z3 fenders and an extra turbo--he was just ready to get out of it and wants to get rid of everything

this is your problem here, he generally has no idea what he is talking about. Check out my build thread on here to see what it takes to make a genuine 330hp and then have a good think about it.

More than likely going to be either dead fuel pump, dead igniter box (little box on top of rocker cover) possibly fuel lines routed backwards but i dought it... maybe dead coilpacks, other thing is wiring might have rubbed through on firewall or inside wheel arch.. one of those are most likely going to be your problem.

Good luck with it mate, and let me know how everything goes, if i can give any more advice just let me know.

i know he was probably fibbing a bit on the numbers, oh one thing where is the best place to get a harness for thr rb's--this guy had somebody who thought he knew what he was doing and wires are everywhere--like for it to be right,saw one for about 400 bucks upper and lower ,is that good? does anybody out there have one for sale?
